I find most reviews/reviewers to be fairly intolerable to listen to. One, subject matter just isn't that interesting. With most toy lines using the buck system once you understand the limitations of each buck you understand the whole line. Two, I hate the unboxing/review combo. It's not a review if you're not intimately knowledgeable of the subject matter, it's just a first impression. This where Transformer and model kit reviewers do a much better job.
Personally, I find the toys the least interesting aspect of the collecting hobby. I much prefer things likeToy Galaxy's historicals on various IPs, Spector Creative's business discussions, ans Bobby Skullface's "Sit Down Saturday", "4 Dummies", and Collector Spotlights. The meaning and implications of the hobby are vastly more interesting. When I do need a review then my go to's are: Sun of the Empire Mangmotion Lazy Eyebrow Gunpla Meli Umi Shinonome Mecha Gokaitsu ZakuAurelius AC Studio |

ZakuAurelius has that smooth radio voice. I liked Kakarot197, Prime92.
I like the ones who always do side by side comparisons and do head swaps so we have an idea which heads fit without modification. |

The problem with the whole deal is it pays to be a shill. Literally. There is zero incentive to give a critical, honest assessment even if that is the product is not great. You do that once and you lose access to hundreds (thousands?) of dollars of free toys that you get early.
While I enjoy Pixel Dan, he will gush over anything Mattel sends him like that hideous Sunman figure. If he doesn’t then they will drop him and move to the next. |

What's On Joe Mind just donates everything they don't use to produce the show.
HCC788 has been around for so long as well that it's hard to think of him as an influencer, but I guess he is? He'd be in this hobby, social media or not just like the folks at WOJM. Truth be told, my respect for a person drops to almost nothing when they announce they are doing Youtube full-time. Especially in the toy community, they lose perspective on what things cost when everything is donated. The only reason I have watched Pixel Dan or Fwoosh is the interviews with Brian Flynn. I want to know what's coming and where my stuff is, and I like hearing Brian talk about the business. If Brian did his own videos alone I'd immediately stop subscribing to these guys. The Transformers reviewers, in my opinion, sometimes serve as a second set of instructions. Some of the Transformers instructions are really hard to follow. |

I usually try to post comments when I've kitbashed multiple model kit parts together. Heads can be so annoying because there's so many ways to design the joints. Amen. Especially 3rd party Transformers. It's nice to verify the transformation step instead of snapping the fragile joint of some $100+ figure. |
