Some folks will be gun shy after this one failed, but for me this is the only failure out of dozens of Kickstarters for toys, comics, and precision tools. That's a vastly superior completion rate compared to something like my small business and startup investments.

Yeah, I see some people swearing off Kickstarters, but by and large they have been successful and a boon to toy collectors. Another takeaway from Hellscreamerz is just how hard it is to launch a toyline and get it to the finish line. And as a community we ought to keep rallying around the small toy companies that have successfully delivered. Preorder early and often, then sit back and be patient as delivery dates inevitably slip. It's a very challenging environment and getting toys from their imaginations into our hands is not an easy road.

So true. Going from concept to product is a long hard road in any industry. I wonder how much of the "swearing off kickstarters" are from folks who made poor investments? Some is straight up misunderstanding the difference between an investment and a pre-order, and not being comfortable with that level of risk. For others I wonder how much is poor ROI. For example, the success of crowdfunded videogames delivering a quality product has been very low while comics and tech have very high success rates for delivering a product. Toys have a fairly high success rate too. I tend to hedge my bets with guys running their first campaign while going deeper with guys who have a successful track record.

It's funny how many I see complaining about the wait times until delivery. It's an odd concept to be waiting on a movie, game or toy to achieve some since of satisfaction. I tend to forget the pre-orders are out there and the unexpected arrival is a nice boon.

Looking at my KS history since jumping in on the BossFight Greeks I have to say anybody that's leery of the service is simply wrong. Out of all this only one project seems dead in the water.

yeah there's different things going on here.

understandable not to back anything related to SW ever again. but you cant paint every kickstarter with the same brush.

for example - im not backing any kickstarter from the other half of strike force alpha again. they only had one unsuccessful kickstarter before, saw some great original customs from lecroy, and used it to milk every cent out of it. the 3d models are amateurish (why the other was unsuccessful) and features that were said for base figures are not included but separate add ons or entire figures in a separate backing. the comic was only free after people belly aching about it. had someone who's work i actually enjoy not been involved i wouldnt have given it a second look. frankly, i would not be surprised if this one doesnt actually deliver.

so, just because im not happy with that guy doesnt mean im going to pass on a future 3.75 o-ring style action figure kickstarter from someone else. that would be crazy. (i just wish the prices would come down 10 bucks)

At this point I don't expect any refund or project being complete and with delivery. Plus at this point I really couldn't care less. So many good figures came out, actually Joytoy delivers good figures in this scale all the time, Fortnite and Halo via jazwares as well.... sorry to say he lost the boat and I'm in no way sorry for him because he should have come clean, and he didn't.

I'm sorry for projects like teccootoys and those mechs which didn't get funding. Not my scale but they were cool. Still Michael has been making 3D models available at a very reasonable price, and even working on new ways to print and new articulation.
