i always thought a nimrod was a dumb dumb, and bizarre it was named for a mutant hunting sentinel; but i recently learned that it's biblical, and nimrod's a great hunter - if you're into that sort of thing - so it makes sense that a mutant hunting robot could be named nimrod.
There is very little about him in the Bible. He's not majorly important to the overall narrative. However, he is clearly described as a very powerful and dominating figure. Noteably, the term "great hunter" is used in such a way that it can be read as "great hunter, against (or opposed) to God." And his name probably comes from a root word which means "to rebel." So there was something about him which was ungodly and self-serving. The land he conquered was known as "Nimrod's lands" in writings from later in the Bible, written well over a thousand years later. So, that's some staying power. And it is generally understood that Nimrod built or commissioned the Tower of Babel's construction. He was recorded as building a whole bunch of cities in multiple kingdoms. Theoretically Nimrod is the only man who has ever commanded the entire world. Kind of a Cobra Commander aspiration. Extra-Biblically there are less accepted historical records of him. Stuff like him marrying his mother and her being a massive witch-queen. Her name was Semiramis and she created a world religion based on the demonic systems of population control from before the Great Flood. And supposedly he was eventually killed by Ham, his great-uncle who was Noah's son and ancestor to the Israelites. None of that is Biblical though. And people also believe Nimrod is actually the same man as Gilgamesh from Arabian history. Gilgamesh knew and spoke to the man who survived the flood by building a boat, while Noah was still alive in the Bible during Nimrod's time. Gilgamesh was the great hunter and a warrior king. Gilgamesh was part god and Nimrod may be part Nephilim (based on the words used to describe him). The ancient historian Josephus speculated on him. Josephus was born way later, right after the time of Christ. He states of Nimrod, "He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to be able to reach and that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers." So if you didn't like Nimrod the Sentinel before, there's a lot there to make him less dweeby.
