I keep coming to hopefully see some custom Gi Joe / Cobra jet customs here. Oh well maybe one day. Or one day I’ll get around to making the ones I have into them and I’ll post them myself

Grippen's ice trick helped, but i think next time im going to dremel the living shit out of that purple neck shove a boat load of greenstuff inside that hole and then cram a ball joint head in the gap.
here's what it looks like: pegs on the inside for days. the waist joint is actually pegged into the waist, rather than the "T" of it being in the torso like the arms are. this is a nightmare. because the waist joint is an upside down T in the waist, i was only able to split the torso this far. and mutilate the hell out of the sides. the back is fucked. im going to toss a warhammer rescaled and 3d printed jetpack on this disaster to hide how i completely fucked everything up. all to confirm that the purple neck part is a separate piece, and then there's a separate neck piece. so what im going to do for the next one is just mutilate that purple neck with a dremel entirely and rip it out. i feel so bad for this guy. his freaking stellar articulation is just messed up now. it's not the designer's fault they made a freaking spectacular toy. i just wanted a different head on it and no other idea how to do that. now i know, and i hope i helped someone else out. maybe. though not sure "mutilate the fuck out of the torso, and then figure out just to tear the living hell out of the purple neck piece" is helpful. |

THese figures are insanely well constructed. It appears mattel made their stuff more tamper resistant after the Space Jam toys kept getting parts stolen off them for Tik Tok challenges.
I had hell prying apart the 5" scale Zyclops and it was a large figure with lots of gaps to work with. I finally resigned myself that there was going to be damage and to just sand and milliput over the gaps before painting. I'm working on a custom now using the 18 inch Zurg and I had to cut off its head with a dremel, that thing has the most complex ball and socket head I have ever seen on a toy. They somehow attached a security ring smaller than the ball joint under the ball joint then attached the head to the security ring then socketed the head onto the ball joint so the head can not be pulled off the ball joint. The ball joint is also not a solid round ball, its like a plastic layered grid shaped into a ball that is impossible to break off the way the head moves. Insanely good construction that makes it a pain to customize lol. |

Seriously. I get the need to make them so the heads can't be stolen.
But here's an idea. Just package them better so people can't rip off the parts. They don't need a plastic sheet window or trays. Just do like the imaginext line and have the figure rest against the cardboard card and bubble around the figure. Way less plastic that way. But like you said. These figures are super well made. I cant stop saying how great the stiffness of the articulation is and how poses seem to lock. They nailed that. Im not even mad at them for this. Im mad at myself for having to totally destroy one to make a custom that i shouldn't be making to begin with. |

I'll never forget the Le Bron Head stealing.
That has got to be a watershed moment into the cost of no plastic window open packaging theft. https://old.reddit.com/r/blursedimag...all_the_heads/ https://old.reddit.com/r/ActionFigur..._earlier_just/ https://old.reddit.com/r/Target/comm...ead_off_every/ Heh. |

Pretty good idea with the suit and a smaller head kind of like Iron Monger. Are you going to paint his suit?
