Sadly I must concur with tkprime's assessment about the Mech Depot. I accidentally broke off one of the stair pieces for the very first set. Also stacking these things is practically based on making friction work for you with luck, not actual assembly. I'm probably only going to order the Mech station and no more, just so I have a cool display for a FEAR mech.

JoyToy offers great value and variety. The tightness of the connectors is the big problem. I've seen suggestions of using a small rubber mallet for assembly and disassembly. Another suggestion was to add a drop of the shock oil remote-control hobbyists use on their plastic parts. But that seems like a lot of bother and potential messiness.

Bujo that analogy is spot on, I just hate that you drop this much coin on a product and it breaks so easily.

One solution is to let others drop coins on products and let them find the flaws. Your efforts as my lab rat have been greatly appreciated.
I get the frustration, but at the same time these expectations have to be channeled thru knowledge of the market. Everything Hasbro and Mattel make passes the 4+ standards and thus they are pretty robust toys. The adult collectable market has no such standards. Often times aesthetics are valued over function and you get these flimsy weak parts that look great so long as they don't break. Hopefully you only bought one set and have found a product that better fits your needs. |

I've picked up 4 of the Fresh Retro sets so far and haven't really had any issues. I do plan on getting a few more and building up with them. Ill post pics whenever I get them all put together how I want it.

I’ve picked up a few sets. Here’s what I’ve got so far. I have 2 more sets on preorder and then I’m done though.

Like I said, they look great, it's just the connectors and small pieces that break way too easily. If they could address those issues these would be perfect. but again, handle with care, reconfiguration caused a lot of issues and the stairs and guardrails are extremely fragile.
