Been thinking about selling off some of my collection but I dont know where to start. Scared if I let some things go I will regret it later. The main line I have is 4 inch Joes, then Star Wars, MU, and then Jurassic Park. I have some little things tossed in that I have bought that I dont really collect but got it cause I thought it was cool. Have a few marvel legends which I will never open cause I dont do 6 inch but the character was my favorite (Venom, Carnage type of deal). Also thought to sell off any odd numbers I may have like 9 POC vipers so sell one leaving 8. That sort of thing. What have you guys done?

I've gone through several cycles as a collector in terms of selling off - As a senior in high school in 99/00 I had a job and got into buying up alot of stuff on ebay when it was in it's infancy - pretty much sold it all off a few years later for beer money in college. Once the 25th/ME stuff came out I was out of college and single with money to blow - went big in terms of collecting the 25th/ME stuff - fast forward to 2017 and I sold off my whole ME collection to get back into the vintage ARAH stuff.
Looking back my main regrets are 1. Not holding onto the vintage figures I had acquired back in high school - they were all in great condition and would of been safe in my parents basement for years before they dumped all my Joe stuff on me when they moved out of that house. 2. When selling off my modern era stuff I was lazy - I could of went through and sold off the figures individually with all their accessories and made alot more money then I did by just selling off lots of figs/accessories. 3. When I go through now to sell things from my ARAH collection it has to be a figure I had more than two of. If I feel any sort of emotional attachment to the figure and or it was an expensive figure to acquire I keep it. For vehicles it's easier - if it doesn't fit my "joe verse" or I get it in hand and am not feeling it I just flip it. In short - sell off things you are certain you will not miss and try to maximize your profit if you go the ebay route. This may sound a little harsh but I've seen enough ridiculousness on ebay - people are willing to pay crazy prices so it's a sellers market. At the same time if you sell here or have friends on the board cutting them a deal is always a good thing. |
