That's my biggest problem with the MotUC line. If you didn't get in at the very beginning and didn't vigilantly haunt the internet to get the figures right when they become available, you're pretty much hosed. Mattel has said that different versions of He-Man and Skeletor might come out (and already announced Battle-Armor He-Man), but for folks that want a basic, original He-Man or Skeletor, you're SOL or going to pay ridiculous prices on E-bay.
Or maybe I'm bitter because I lost my original He-Man when I was a kid and was stuck with the Battle-Armor version for the rest of my childhood. But anyway, the MotUC is great for what it is, and for those that are willing to put up with small production runs and high prices. However, just because it works for Mattel doesn't mean it would work for Hasbro. |

Mattel is cool and all but the availability of their product is what is starting to annoy me. Fortunately for me I don't collect the MOTUC line (well I did get Hordak) and only plan on maybe picking up figures of people that either weren't made during the 2002 line or that I missed. But what is really getting me is the distribution of their DCUC line (which I do collect). man it is getting more and more difficult to find those figures at retail. Especially exclusives.
And while on the topic of exclusives, what is the deal with Mattel offering the Wonder Twins online after SDCC but not Gleek? That is stupid. (and no I don't know if they are available yet, just that at some point they are suppossed to be).

i would back an army builder club through HTS. i have been saying it for a few years now. just sell me a box full of 10 army builders a month at a set fee. I would pay 60-70 or so a month for this.

I've definitely been more pleased with Mattel recently than Hasbro. Mattel had a really great showing at SDCC, a lot of nice stuff for the fans. Hasbro shows off a bunch of ML's, only a few of which will actually supposedly be made, and additionally show (and then pull) the long awaited 6 inch Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo, and reveal that they have no plans to release them either. Boo on the Hasbro customer relations front for sure.
Sorry, when did they say those wouldn't be released? (Crimson Dynamo and Iron Man). I must've missed that...as the booth shows that both figures are seeing a release (?) |

I totally disagree.
1. Hasbro gets figures in the hands of kids and collectors; Mattel cannot claim to do the same. Their distribution is terrible with so many of their lines. Look at DCUC, with waves that never showed up nationwide, or at stores that are stuck with the same DCIH figures clogging the shelves. It's inexcusable. 2. Hasbro owns the 3 3/4 scale. Mattel's efforts are laughable at best. The JLU line was ok for what it was, but it's no G.I. Joe. Besides that, there haven't been new figures in the past 18 months. 3. While it's nice that Mattel is doing six inch lines for Ghostbusters and MOTU, the cost of each figure plus shipping is ridiculous. If Hasbro charged similar rates for GI Joe products, the hisstank would blow up. 4. I don't see a reason for Hasbro to move into the 6 inch arena with Joe, because for all appearances, the 6 inch scale looks to be in trouble. Rising costs have held down Marvel Legends, and I have a feeling we'll see the same thing with DCUC soon enough. With all of that said, if Hasbro wanted to make an online store like MattyCollector and make products that were more collector-friendly, I'd be for it. They could do collector themed kitbashes, etc. and charge a bit extra. I think Mattel does a good job with the collector market, but I think Hasbro owns overall. |

I love Mattel for their DCU 6" figures... I loved the JLU line, except the fact that you cannot stand them up.
As far as the MOTU figures goes, you guys can have them all... no thank you! Now, the Ghostbusters figures, sign me up! Got my Egon when I was at the Con and I cannot wait for the others! |

i am a completist in the DCU line. The distribution sucks. i preorder all the waves from BBTS but the f'n walmart waves kill me. I still need black lightning, atom and eradicator but am not paying 40 or more for them. that is where matell needs to improve.

Oh and don't get me started on their subscriptions.
You pay for a year, it comes out to be $250 something to guarantee each new figure so you don't have to deal with the anxiety and what does Mattel do? "OH LET"S HAVE BONUS FIGURES THAT ARE NOT PART OF THE SUBSCRIPTIONS!" Serious, I have to fight for Battle Armor He-Man even though I paid for a year of figures? How does that make any logical sense? Bonuses? How about this bonus Mattel, how bout you save the fans from going to eBay and having a coronary? And their distribution SUCKS! I still can't find DCU or DCIH at the stores. But yea, plenty of crappy Dark Knight figures. Yea, great company. Real sound strategy.

There is a Crimson Dynamo figure coming in the 3 3/4" Iron Man 2 line, however. It's a different suit from the 6" version, though. I believe Marvelousnews.com has the full story (and pics of all mentioned figures). |

Yeah... pisses me off that the Power Girl wave is another Wal*Mart Exclusive wave... and I think I heard the same for the GL wave. Though I hope that was just rumor.
