What a stupid name. What is with modern writers being lazy pieces of shit that can't even provide decent names? From Halo we get "the weapon", and in Star Wars they named a ship "the vessel". If the goal is to avoid making any lasting impact on the audience then let's just keep referring to characters with nouns. Quote:

Another option, and one I think Mcfarlane did, is release a (or multiple) Warthog accessory kit that includes a rocket launcher or gauss cannon or troop carrier parts for the Warthog. Then the collector can outfit things as they prefer. The motherfucking Goblin. I would buy a ton of those. |

While I totally agree with you, as well as hate it when movies are just named after a character they went back and decided to focus on, "Cruella" "Maleficent" "Kenobi", etc. Spoilers below in case you aren't worried about spoilers: She was meant to die right after completing her mission, so she didn't get a proper name as they assumedly A: Wanted to keep her nature a secret from Cortana as best as they could, so a vague name might have been safer, and B: Didn't want chief to get attached to her. Once Chief and her decide she's better off alive, she gives herself a real name, at the end of the game, and we don't know what it is yet, but it's strongly implied she chooses "Cortana" |

Recently got into the line when I found the two-packs at Ross last month. Since then, I've bought about a dozen figures, including most of Wave 4. Hasn't been as hard to find since I work at Target, but there's also an upcoming transition endcap that should feature more figures post-holidays. Also a few deals going on with various vehicles getting marked down, so worth keeping an eye out for.

We only had one case at our store, and I was able to grab some others at a neighboring store. Only seen them at Target so far, so that's your best bet.

Problem is we have people that grab ANYTHING new at our Targets now....it could be the crapt that sits cold in your store and never moves but people here will grab it just to get it off the shelfs. I love visiting other states because I can find at least the lines of figures that are not flying off the shelves in 99% of the country. |

I found two Mastercheifs from wave 4. Once. I'm pretty sure wave 4 is nothing but Masterchiefs. |

Reading that made my eyes involuntarily roll so hard I almost went blind. Imagine if your child grew up with a yellow Labrador retriever named Rufus, and after 12 years of fun adventures that dog died leaving your child heartbroken. Let's say your response was to go out the next day and buy another yellow Labrador retriever that you then named Rufus. Then you give that new dog to your grieving child. How incredibly fucked up would that be?

To be fair, this is coming from the same franchise where one of the main female characters kidnaps 75 children, and then creates an equal number of child-clones designed to rapidly degenerate and die, because she figures that it's more "humane" for the parents to watch their "children" suddenly sicken and expire than be left wondering why they mysteriously vanished one night...
I always liked that aspect for two reasons. One, the utilitarianism vs deontology debate. Two, the example of how science can go to extremes when given unlimited funding and no oversight. |

[QUOTE=Bujo;5482969]Completely agree. Studio logic is insane these days. "Let's take a villain who literally wanted to make a coat out of 100 puppies, and make her a sympathetic protagonist." Brilliant!

Let's say your response was to go out the next day and buy another yellow Labrador retriever that you then named Rufus. Then you give that new dog to your grieving child. How incredibly fucked up would that be? Are these the messages 343 wishes to convey to the audience? "Grieving over a loss doesn't matter anymore because we can instantly replace anything with a close facsimile that's newer and shinier." I'm glad they at least presented reasons for not naming her, and followed up with the effects of not naming her. Oddly enough, I had a golden retriever, named rufus, that was replaced be another golden retriever my parents tried to pass off as the same dog, lol. I ended up having the second one longer, and getting closer to it I think. "Oh, he left as a puppy, and came back as an adult dog" hmm, right. Yeah, I think that 343 wrote themselves into a hole "killing" off cortana, so took the easiest replacement route. It's a little cheesy, but, I think it woeks well enough, anything is worth wiping 4 and 5 away, and starting anew, and to be fair, she's another ai "clone" of halsey, made to be exactly like cortana "as if she never met chief" and ai's choose their own name, so, she's a 1:1 replacement almost, and all the potential trauma from name reuse is her fault, lol. Also she asked chief for permission to use the name, and following their story, it was really sweet, like she's trying to live up to her big sisters name (literally) while fixing her mistakes. I dunno, maybe I have more tolerance, but I didn't mind. Back to figures though: Anyone got online listings for the series 4 stuff? I want pretty much the whole wave. |
