It is interesting that they are choosing a slightly off scale from their other stuff. 3.75" instead of 4" and 6.5" instead of 6". I hope they look good with the Joes and Fortnite. I could be in for a new line. This line makes me interested in learning how to paint figures. I want to get a bunch of the Master Chief's so I can make a Red vs. Blue set. Lol

The 3.75" rather than 4" gave me pause as well but I figure that means the vehicles and Spartans will be pretty Joe-compatible. I plan to buy the crap outta these for my kids and my nephews so compatibility is more important than strict scaling (they have a lot of Bruder stuff for civilian vehicles, for instance).

I always considers 3.75 and 4" to be the same, 1/18th scale. Just a matter of how tall the character is. MU threw everything out of whack since they were wildly inconsistent (Ie movie star lord, chris pratt 6'2", figure 7'6") and everyone considers it the standard.

Troof! Everyone has 25A Joes as the modern standard everything else is judged by, but all they did was take the RAH height proportions and shove a .25" second knee joint on top of the calf. There were so many of those figures, and magnificent many of those many were; but they were not proportioned properly enough to be a standard against which other lines should be based or judged, imho.
I could very easily live with a return to 3.75 for standard humans if the Zica Captain Actions are what we can expect. |

As a lifelong Joe fan It's interesting to me to see another long time (lifetime?) Joe fan address this. To keep this post short ...what you mentioned about the height and proportions of 25A "modern joe" is precisely what edged me out of 1/18th. I'd have likely stayed dedicated to the scale had a a true 3.75" been produced and offered to brick and mortar retailers. I was fine with updated / improved construction but the scale change really made me lose interest. |

'Squat and chunky' is width. All I talk about is height.
Lay all those figure combinations on their back and equalize them across the shoulders and you'll see the added .25" at the top of the calf in most cases. The modern softer plastics enable overall thinner pieces but they generally kept the same height proportions with the added .25" second knee hinge added atop the calf instead of the new height averaged into the height of all the pieces. Imno. It was a poor standard to have that was poorly followed by the overall industry; imho. I'm just fantasizing about a return to the true 3.75 height with modern sculpting and artic incorporated into the sculpt from the get-go. Hopefully these JW Halo humans help sate some of that desire for me. |

I find franken-builds tend to be a big problem for Joe, as well. NF Scarlett, for example, seems a little tall, and then that Shock Trooper body they like to use for everything is a little short.

Agreed. That Nf Scarlett is definitely off proportionally. I would however take kitbashes using the ME olds over any downgraded new molds tho.
