Is there a good website that identifies Marvel toys down to the production stamp?
Long story short, I purchased 3 sets of the 4 inch Gamerverse Spiderman sets for the suited Mr. Negative figure and then put the three Spiderman figures up on Ebay. One sold and the person who purchased it thinks its a 'fake' since the production stamp shows a Spiderman figure made in 2016. I looked at the figure the original stamp is from and clearly they used that as a base for the gamerverse figure and repainted it. Its a matter of principle as this guy thinks I'm selling fakes when I am not, he just doesn't understand that figure bodies get reused. Any help? |

The buyer from eBay is using this site to say the figure I sold is fake:
HobbyID.com It looks like this is wikipedia style site where the users upload all the info, but it barely has anything listed on it. The production stamp on the Spiderman gamerverse figure as the same production number as a previous Spiderman figure (C-1602 GF C1924), so she is convinced mine is a fake because the website listed above only listed the original figure. As we all know in the community, molds get reused and repainted, but the production stamp number remains the same. I emailed her a review from shartimus prime that reviews the gamerverse figure, but at the end he stands it next to the original figure she sent from that website and he talks about how it is a reused mold: ( 6:00 minute mark and 7:35 minute mark). In the end, I will refund her as its only a $9.00 sale (including shipping - $5.00 for the figure)but its the principle of the thing of her thinking I sold her a 'fake'. I also wan the figure back as I know it is not a fake and I can resell it (as I have 3 other ones so far...). |

Wow. If she doesn’t want it, just sell it to someone who values it and understands the reused mold things. That does suck tho that she’s so stubborn in thinking that you’re scamming her.

I will sell it again...if she sends it back.... I don't mean to be a jerk, but she clearly doesn't know much about the toy industry and how molds are reused... |

I've bought those Spider Man versus Mr. Negative sets when they came out myself. I never noticed the date stamp on the spider man figures. But I've ran into issues with international buyers when I would sell Joes on eBay and I've noticed a large majority of the buyers are females. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just find it very interesting. Are there more female collectors overseas than in the US? I don't know.
Hopefully you get this taken care of with no additional issues. It is strange to me as well that she thinks that you are trying to scam her. |

She wrote back after I explained to her about Hasbro reusing molds and after she watched the video above and apologized. She said that she bought it for her 9 year old daughter and she was going off of info her daughter gave her and after her daughter said it was fake.
She apologized and is no longer asking for a refund. |
