That's too bad. This would be a nice opportunity for the toys to improvise a bit, and even for the game to take inspiration (I'm looking at you Kenner Imperial Troop Transport!).

Even just doing the metal in a rusty colour and the bricks in a different shade.

And cement would be cool. The metal might even work with a cement colour/texture.

Adding more kinds of mats would make the game unnecessarily complicated. Mats are an integral part of the game and the use of them is the biggest separator of noobs vs pros. As for different styles of the existing ones (rusty, different shades, etc.) one of my friends already suggested that to Epic through the official Fortnite Reddit page and he got absolutely ripped apart by people saying that it would mess up the game cause then you can’t really tell at a distant what mat it is. There are skins for guns which is cool, but skins for mats would be just confusing.

Nobody in this thread cares what happens in the game, just in the package. The two don't *have* to be connected.

I'm wondering if concrete pieces could be something a garage caster could find profitable enough to do.

You might not care about consistency between the 2 but I’m pretty sure Epic Games does. There is hope for concrete slabs in the toy line though if they ever make playsets of some of the poi’s. For example if they made a Retail Row playset or a Durr Burger playset or something.
