I don't think this generation has a GI Joe, there are just too many outlets and options these days. Video games come and go very fast, there are countless fanbases and Fortnite is simple one that got a recent spotlight.
If we are talking in terms of popularity, toys, movies, etc, I think old Roblox has Fortnite beat, its the most popular game ever made, has movies, fan projects, toys, and a lot more. |

Might be bold, but it seems to be true. Over 150 figures, over 40 accessory sets, about 12 vehicles, and over 10 diorama/playsets. You might say they have not released enough vehicles to match G.I. Joe and that is true, but Hasbro had unlimited possibilities for vehicles whereas Jazwares has to work within the confines of what vehicles are in the Fortnite game. All that stuff was released in 33 months, just under 3 years.
When you think about it, Hasbro released 154 G.I. Joe figures in 5 years, from 1983-1987 In recent years, no one has released a 4" action figure line like Jazwares has with Fortnite. They have the license for another 4 years. Hopefully the brand will stay popular so we can get several hundred more figures. |

I snagged Kit and his/her Botcycle. I've already taken it apart and made mods with a few more planned. I want to find a weapon I can plug onto the waist ball so the legs can be an autonomous weapon station while Kit rides the cycle around.
There is technically a ball waist but the ball is so buried in the tire it only swivels. Definitely heat the tire before pulling it off, and trim-widen the socket a bit if you want to keep it swappable. I made the circle a diamond-oval and it still fits securely. They first designed it so the wheel would roll but I've found the weight of the legs makes that joint floppy. So they engineered in a key&lock plug on the top of the tire and the underside of the gas tank. Once I pulled it all apart and trimmed the key-plug off the tire the original wheel axle spins fine to allow the wheel to roll in detached-cycle mode or act as the torso abcrunch in combined-bot mode. I plan to glue the axle to the wheel and allow the soft plastic of the cycle frame grabbing the axle at either side be where the axle spins. As the axle is hard plastic along with the wheel they don't have any real friction like the soft plastic frame grabbing the hard axle does. The elbow pegs aren't quite long enough and the inside flap keeps popping off the peg; I'll likely have to glue it in place. I want to make the arms swappable but they designed the shoulder insert piece such that the loop will pop before the peg will pull out, even with heating it didn't want to come out properly and I had to use Nature's Pliers to bite on it securely. I'm gonna see if I can rig some of the pop'em joints from a spare MTF exo-frame in there. The actual Kit kitty is uesless to me as the body is no-ticulated and the head is too cartoony. I was planning to see if I can get a custom Mega figure cat-dude in there but BBTS conveniently let me know my Chitocerium cat in in-bound shortly so I'll wait to see if that cat can work as the pilot instead. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Produ...Details/139270 |

And I can see their Halo line topping even that once they tighten up some issues and get some longevity under their belt. |

You might notice I've removed the seatback from the gastank, as I was prepping it to seat a Construx figure before I got BBTS' notice. Do that to move it back a few millimeters and a Construx can fit with the legs behind the wheelmounts on either side of the tank. I'm gonna wait for the Chitocerium cat to come in before making any more mods to the seating area.
Another option could be to graft a Construx waist piece onto the gastank permanently to make a cyborg. |

I recall a Toyfare article of the Greatest Toylines Ever, with RAH Joe topping the list. They argued the sheer amount of fully-poseable figures and vehicle/playset support just put it over the top of every other toyline ever made (the Star Wars t-crotches were the decided factor between those two lines, iirc). By the metrics they used, even tho that article is running about 20years old now; I think RAH Joe would still stand tall over every thing made before it, during it, and after it.
But this Fortnite line just might topple RAH. And I can see their Halo line topping even that once they tighten up some issues and get some longevity under their belt. Halo is getting better with every wave and has more vehicle options to draw from then Fortnite does. I don't have extended knowledge of the franchise so I wonder if there are enough unique characters to sustain the line for years.
