Have tons of Joytoy figures, maybe 35-40 figures. The majority of them are just in static A-poses in storage for future customs. The hinge joints on several different figures are just breaking down on their own. I'll pick up a figure out of the storage box and the leg/foot/arm will just fall off without touching it. For awhile, I've thought that these were the best 1/18 figures being produced but I'm becoming very annoyed with whatever plastic they are using on these joints. I probably need to invest in abs 3d printing to replace these parts.

'In storage' how? For many plastics, keeping them sealed up causes them to 'rot' quicker as their exudates aren't allowed to whiff off into the atmosphere. Since we're talking a Chinese factory working with a very quick turn-around process deliberately skirting American toy safety rules by ignoring the brick retail market; these toys aren't likely to be using materials with longevity given high priority.

You're not wrong, but these are rotting in 6-18 months not 40 years like ARAH figures so I'm just venting I guess. And the plastic of the hinge joints isn't greasy, it's dry and falling to pieces. I've definitely wondered how safe these plastics and paints are but I've just let that one go for now.
For what its worth, I'm not sealing them. I store them in these boxes with the lids off, on my workbench in a climate controlled house. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Sta...5?athbdg=L1700 Last edited by NaClty; 07-22-2022 at 11:13 AM.. |

Just figured I'd share for our less financially constrained collectors. On that note, this Darks Source figure is much cheaper on deepdiscount.com. Last edited by AWOL; 07-28-2022 at 01:15 PM.. |
