The first Joy Toy figures were very brittle like Hiya. But lately these have been awesome!

I believe so. They had comics that came with a few of the sets a few waves ago and I think they were planning on expanding the material but then it died off. The comic was in Chinese but the art wasn't bad.

Yeah, I don't know if I'm getting used to them or they're getting better with construction, but they've been really good. I actually like the suited assassin body a bit more than the Marauder suit body.

I just got a new figure called Steiner. I ordered him because of the crossed swords and pretty cool removeable helmet. I have no idea what the world is about so I just order the ones that interest me.

I generally hate joytoy figures, mainly because of the awkward looking joints and ugly heads (in my opinion), but get some from time to time for the accessories. So i pretty much just yanked the figure apart without a care in the world, and nothing broke. It even came straight from a package that had been sitting outside in the cold. One very cool update is the new wrist joints. They don't look as out of place as the other joints, and pretty much give the hands a perfect range of motion. |

Here are my thoughts getting my first JoyToy figure in hand with the Mercenary K. This is actually the first time I?ve held a ?modern era? style 1:18. I grew up on o-rings and I?m new to the game.
the plastic overall felt like something I could let my kids play with. Part of my worry in building a collection of the figures I want (Acid Rain, Joy Toy, Boss Fight, Dime Novel) is getting figures that they can?t ever play with. The plastic feels soft in a good way, unlike action force. It isn?t heavy. Articulation/stiffness: wish the neck looked better from all angles when the head is turned. Not sure if its because its fixed at the bottom of the neck. No stiffness issues. Figure felt ready to pose. Felt like i needed to take accessories off to seat him in a car, kept popping apart crunching him up. Paint: everything is good except a tiny spot missing on the head. But the face looks better in person. Accessories: mixed. The gun is a tiny bit odd proportion wise with the front hand-guard. The clip for the shield is way too soft. I wish that part snapped and stayed. Which leads me to the hands. The helmet is the worst part. Way too big for the head sculpt so its always flopping off. Looks cool though if left alone or placed on after setting a pose. Hands: these felt a bit too soft and the more i futzed with the gun and shield the flimsier it felt. Overall, not bad. It surpassed expectations in some ways but let me down in others. I wish the hands were firmer, and the shield clip was firmer. Then it would be perfect for me. I?m happy that i feel like i can supervise my kids with the figure and it wont break. I was worried it was going to be more fragile. Quote:

Edit: My bad. I keep thinking Hardcore Coldplay and Crossfire as the same thing. Crossfire is a video game. HC is probably their own thing. Last edited by Bujo; 02-19-2022 at 07:21 AM.. |

I need confirmation on better hands before I try another figure. I'm happy with the Mercenary because, to me, he looks cool. If I get into painting figures, I'm 100% going to try and throw an Adidas tracksuit with adidas shoes.
On the positive side I feel like I can quickly let my kids play with the figure and not be too concerned they are going to break it. I'm super curious about the quality / sturdiness of the vehicles. The Crazy Reload SUV in Tan is so cool to me. If its not too brittle, I'd love to grab it. The ATV looks pretty solid as well. |
