Outside of The Corps and PTE - what would you guys recommend as a non-GI Joe action figure line that fits in with the new mold GI Joes? I have purchased some Storm Troopers that fit in well as vehicle drivers and gunners for my hiss tanks but the articulation is not ideal.
Are the Marauder's task force figures the best replacement for the new mold Joes? Thanks! |

I don't think Marauders fits at all. As good as they are, they don't look like Modern Era Joes to me. I think the 4" Marvel Universe works well, but that's about it.

Probably Eagle Force when they launch next year. They have a nearly ideal combination of articulation, build, and characterization, offering named characters, grunt-level figures, and alternate heads to promote/demote existing figures to fit your story framework. Marauder would be best in the meanwhile. They aren't a 100% perfect match for Joe in terms of aesthetic or construction (not that Eagle Force is 100% either), but they're certainly the closest overall--subjectively better in many ways, too--and are specifically designed so that many parts are compatible between the lines. MTF are deliberately a bit on the generic side, but that's a good thing if you want army builders, or if you are looking for a solid base to modify into something more distinct.
Some of the recent Elite Force figures can be useful, particularly as background characters. They don't have the same aesthetic as Joe or MTF, are a hair shorter, and the construction style is a bit outdated, but they can be had for cheap (especially the ones that went straight to Ross), look great on their own merits, and have uniform styles that can't always be replicated by other figure lines.

There's a lot. Here's a sample
Marvel Universe Boss fight figures? Ourwar: Hiya toys Unimax? BBi? A-team? Ori Toy There's quite a few passable star wars figures and Indiana Jones figures. If you want a one for one look, I can't help you, like Roland said, there's almost nothing that looks exactly like an ME GI JOE. |
