I've bought many of the RoC joes coming out of China. Some of these are test shots. How does a test shot vary from the final product?
On the RoC figures, the quality seems the same. None of them are broken yet. So clearly the plastic quality is the same. |

Most of the time its an actual test shot that is ran through the molds. Sometimes they use whatever plastic colors they have and run some. I have a bunch of Prototype/Test Shots and I actually consider these as the very first of that particular figure ever made.
In my opinion they should be worth quite a bit more than what they usually go for. I LOVE prototypes/test shots! |

They usually have weird markings on them.. painted or ecthed into them on different parts...a lot are not painted to my understanding depending on if it is a mold test shot from like the first run to make sure the mold is working correclty and finnal assembly is correct etc etc...I could be wrong though..
A lot of what is available is final production stuff like with the ROC figures just from bad runs from QC checks or shipments they trashed for whatever reasons...

Like I said. I honestly view these as the very first of the runs. Like they have never been released and you are getting the first ones! |

There will be differences depending on what type of proto it is or test run figure or what not. That is why a lot of our chinese sellers say "paint may be lost randomly" lol I still think that is funny but they are refering to possible production issues and expect anything. My test shot/intial run James McCullen has 2 right hands...lets say 100 of those were made and QC got a hold of them, they usually just toss the whole run until the figure comes out right...

Let me ask a question on Prototypes and such how are these re-sellable?
I would have assumed Hasbro owned them, and any such sale of them would be considered theft of Hasbro's property unless Hasbro was the original first seller of the prototype? |

The factory has a mold of the original molded figure so these are prototypes/intial runs from the factories not Hasbro itself I would guess. The exact original/mock up figure and the etched molds to make it's parts I doubt well ever see.
