I second your idea, i grew going to these stores, and all i can say is if anyone on here never got to go to a childrens palace you really missed out. Toys r us is nothing compared to the palace, you could go in there looking for anything any day of the week and they had it. It didnt matter what you were looking for any toy you ever wanted was there. You go to toys r us and everythings gone before it hits the shelves.

My first wife worked at Hills - my friend and I would go in there all the time to shop for Joes, and one thing led to another...
TG&Y was a great store back in the day... I still remember getting Leia in Boush disguise there - it was so cool that her helmet came off. Farm and Fleet used to have a toy section. I can remember getting the dreadnoks there. We had a department store called Heck's. Thats where Shipwreck, Spirit and Snake Eye's V2 came from... |

I remember that Children's Palace and Lionel Kiddie City were within blocks of each other. I'd rush there with holiday money looking for new Biker Scouts for my army or more Joes because the fireworks did not show much favor to them. It was nice to walk through the mall too, that's where KayBee was. They were always more expsensive, but they had the newest cool releases.
My son plays a lot of video games, but I take the time to play with action figures with him also. I think a lot of parents use video games to babysit their kids, which infact deprives them of their imagination. It's up to us encourage creativeness, but in order to do that we have to make time!
