As I understood it, boss fight helped design the zombie labs. Later the two guys who were the founders maybe had a split or something and one of them like sold the molds to boss fight. The other guy wasn?t happy about it I don?t think. That?s the general idea I have about it best I remember.

Supposedly, the sales of the BFS Zombie figures were disappointing and future plans were put on hold.

The ZL project was running late for whatever reason and the guy that runs LockerToys pushed them through by sacrificing paint and joint quality, then the two founders split and, by my understanding, LockerToys guy sold the molds to BFS *and then* bitched about them announcing they would do their own figures. That was when he then got out of toy-making to start LockerToys and did those metal weapons as his last manufacturing project.

Alex Wu was the original idea guy for ZL, and afaik he broke away before the molds were sold to BFS, due to the poor work done on the ZL KS. My impression was that Alex was wanting to keep working at them to get them to BFS (former) quality. The *other* guy whose name escapes me at the moment made the decision to sell the molds and then bitched when BFS made the obvious decision to use the molds to make more zombies; and is the guy behind Locker Toys/Cave.
Alex is Dave Proctor's best friend in Hong Kong, by all appearances on their FB pages. IF MY MEMORY HOLDS TRUE, but it might not. |

Okay that makes sense. It had looked like Boss Fight was doing something shady using those molds, without knowing they bought them.

i dont know what to say about that. i got quite a lot of the figures from the kickstarter and the sculpts were great but i was mostly disappointed because they have tons of layered on paint. so when BossFight got the molds i was excited on one hand because better quality, but on the other hand i didn't want to buy all the same figures again, i mean they are not cheap. but then the characters they came up with i was not that interested in, like the boxer zombie. the sad part is in my opinion the coolest stuff that did with the zombie molds was a few heads and parts that were only sold in those calendar sets. which was sort of a waste.

The low sales make sense though. It seems like they missed on the big sellers, such as the plain cop and the civilians. Even if you are not a zombie fan, people would want to buy multiples of the civilians and cops.

I agree, but, Zombies are the only ones they like.

Yeah, the roll-out of the BFS Series Z stuff was pretty much a bust. The few non-translucent zombies they reproduced from the ZBL line were fantastic, but they really phoned it in on the civies. Someday I'll strip the paint from all the ZBL figures and do them proper.
