I do absolutely hold hasbro to a higher standard. Joe above all. Many times they live up to it (Eaglehawk Skystriker poc/30th Vamp) some times not so much (looking at you tread ripper). But no matter what if someone else makes a cool vehicle I can fit joes into good chance I'll buy it.

Well, the True Heroes vehicles people get most excited about are vehicles for which there are no existing Joe analogs or at least if there are, they're much harder to get. Are True Heroes vehicles better than or even as good as Joe vehicles? No, but their cargo plane is infinitely better than Hasbro's complete lack of one, and now their hovercraft with cargo deck is going to be infinitely better than Hasbro's complete lack of one.
Then even if True Heroes releases a vehicle for which there is a direct Joe analog, they're readily available year round, right down the street, so it's occasionally tempting to pick one up to supplement the superior Joe stuff. |

I completely agree people would be unhappy with these toys if they were released as Hasbro Joe stuff, but I'm not sure why that's anything other than absolutely reasonable. They're not meant to fit into the Joe aesthetic, so it makes perfect sense that people would be upset if someone tried to fit them in.

I saw it today as well. If it were less than $50, I might've gotten it. It's a neat set, but I just don't like the guns and missiles. There's have to be some re-working, and I just don't know that I'm up to it, especially at a $50 price point where I'll have to find something to replace those launchers.

For what you pay, the True Heroes stuff is pretty awesome, no doubt. For many collectors, its' "close enough." I've been considering outfitting my Marauder Task Force figures with some True Heroes vehicles. Just so they have a separate "identity" from the Joes/Cobras. Basically, they try to use these vehicles as "proof" that big Joe vehicles totally would sell if Hasbro just made them...while ignoring that a large part of the reason these vehicles sell is the low pricepoint for what you get. I look forward to seeing this in next years "Resurgence III" thread.
But damn, $50 seems high for something that's not G.I. Joe. |

I picked one up at TRU recently, along with the bridge layer tank.
I love getting this stuff for the following reasons: 1. These are vehicles we will never see remade by Hasbro again in the G.I. Joe line because of cost for new molds or old molds lost/destroyed. Plus, kids (and fans) just don't buy large scale vehicles anymore. 2. I don't feel so bad about painting up these toys versus buying a Hasbro G.I. Joe (or a high priced Club version) because they are usually at a much lower price point. 3. It gives me a different or more modern version of an old Joe vehicle. Why have my Joes flying vintage F-14s when they can be in an F-22? 4. Stickers can make these vehicles the next best thing to an actual Hasbro made Joe vehicle. I have added repro decals from Cobrastickers for years to recreate my versions of the Mauler and Dragonfly, plus never before or thought of vehicles such as a a Cobra sub, a Russian IPV and Hind-D chopper for the Oktober Guard, and a AH-130 gunship and SEAL boat for the Joes. 5. The quality is actually pretty good on many of these and hold up just as well as some of the recent Joe stuff. 6. They are great for dioramas where you don't have a vehicle or playset to really set the tone. Sometimes the scale is way off, but how your frame the picture sometimes makes all the difference. 7. I can always buy a vintage vehicle if I want some that is a true G.I. Joe product. Chap Mei, BBI, True Heroes, The Corps just allow me to extend the story and universe for my Joes. I'll be getting the Hovercraft and making a customized version of the Whale. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the tank yet...might become a faction vehicle for maybe the OG or a desert tank for the Joes.
