Perhaps. Or, if people read the original source thread and realize that at no point in this thread has anyone said its a definite, then there shouldn't be a problem at all. However, collectors like to "read what they want" in terms of an article. "hopefully this means something!" somehow translates to "FACT!" Quote:
A valid point.
Hasbro may be on the verge of "going small." Beginning to think that G.I. Joe 3 may go the same way, with the addition of a 6" "classic" themed line for the big kids. That seems to be the pattern the toy industry is falling into: Small, minimal articulation for kids, 6" heavy detail/deco for adult collectors. If that is indeed the case my hope is that its executed better than the sigma 6 line was. I remember my buddy's son being confused over the larger offering not being compatible with the smaller vehicles. That said though, if anything does come out of this, I doubt there would be much in terms of offerings to lead to that confusion. |

My issue with line was this: The vehicles (and their drivers) were clearly conceived as a mini-figure line akin to MASK. But the figure sets NEVER had a clear "vision" to what they were: Hasbro cited them as "modern green army men", so all were preposed to some degree. Many sets were fairly gimmick-based. While not issues in and of themselves, the problem was it became impossible to really add to the vehicles as the only figures that would work with them were figures from other vehicles. But with a higher pricepoint and "markeing influence" relatively few characters were actually produced in a why to support a broad product range. Which is a true shame as the marketing/packaging for the line remains some of the best ever done for GI Joe (or most other post-2005 toy lines PERIOD). The strong packaging and the mission files were GREAT design elements, and if I were in charge of the Joe brand, I'd bring those back in a heartbeat.

Funny, Steevy, as you could actually be the best person to chime in on this -
Remember with the S6 figures and vehicle assortments were out, wasn't it Apac's son that found the play value between the two lines to be confusing? I remember Shane saying that it turned his son off to the 2.5" and caused Apac to start converting all of those vehicles for 3.75" use. |

If Hasbro decides to even re release the original line, I will be screwed. I have no shopping filter for MASK. I will hoard these things until im broke. I can look past most joes, transformers and "other' toys, but not mask.

I keep thinking that it would have bothered me less for Hasbro to be off on the acronym rather than misspelling a word. I mean you can still say the word "mask" when referring to M.A.S.C. Then they wouldn't have to look stupid for spelling it "kommand".

Finally watched TF:Prime season 3 last night on Netflix- it was a neat nod to MASK when fowler brought in the new truck mode Optimus 'scanned' and said it was from their MASK division...
I never had any MASK toys as a kid, but with the Hasbro trend now being 2.5 figures (Avengers2 GotG) I could see them getting a shot at a rebirth... would give me some great fodder for my MP Transformers Human alliance at least... |

At least with MASK, there's no preposed figures, just consistent articulation all around. Looking forward to seeing what Hasbro does with this. |

No word on G.I. Joe, but they tried to dodge this question, so who knows.
M.A.S.K. will come back in the near future!
