The designs are very cool. I'll be curious to see what they look like in prototype/final production.
It's still very much looking like a US-based Third Party Transformers company so far, and it's a clever workaround they're using, but I'll be very curious to see if Hasbro lets it fly without potential legal action. |

PWTT posted an image of a possible Desolataur cape, and asked for feedback on their Facebook page.

Today Play With This Too announced an original figure intended to be a crowd funding exclusive. Bitemark with D-Kay.
This figure is a black and red recolor of the Desolataur figure with the head from their Bloodbath figure. He will also come with a red and black Tech Drone named D-Kay ("decay"), who turns into a space ship or weapons for Bitemark. |

An email went out from BBTS just now. Seems BBTS is backing Play With This Too, hoping for figures from them after the crowd funding, I'd guess.

(No Preorders yet, stay tuned for more info) This new company is made of several former Hasbro employees including Aaron Archer and Rik Alvarez. Working along them are several toy and entertainment industry experts such as Steve Redinger, Trent Troop, Mark Wong, Ken Christiansen and Simon Furman. Play With This Too has also contracted famed designer, co-founder and former co-owner of the Four Horsemen - Christopher Dahlberg of Berger Inc. Christopher Dahlberg will produce the digital sculpts for their action figure line. In February of 2015, Play With This Too will launch a crowd funding campaign to produce their first line of action figures. This debut line will consist of 6” highly articulated figures with interchangeable parts and weapons. These figures also feature a number of 5mm ports, which allow for many of these interchangeable parts to work across multiple figures. These interchangeable parts include heads, hands, feet, weapons, arms and legs. There will be approximately 25 different 6” figures available during their crowd funding campaign. Each 6” figure also comes with a small robot companion called a Tech Drone. These small robotic figures, approximately 3.2” tall, are made up of pieces connected via 5mm pegs. This allows for the Tech Drones to form robots, vehicles or combine with other Tech Drones. They are also able to form weapons and armor for the larger 6” figures. In addition to their 6” line of figures and Tech Drones, Play With This Too is also releasing a series of Head Shots. Head Shots come in sets of three and a different artist designed each set. These heads are interchangeable with many 6” action figures that feature ball joints connecting the body to the head. Perfect for customizers or for creating new characters using all the various Play With This Too action figures. There are current 8 volumes of Head Shots designed and ready to go into production! In January, Play With This Too will begin to reveal their hard copy prototypes. This team of artists is doing as much work upfront as possible so if their crowd funding campaign is successful they will go right into production! These amazing figures cannot exist without your help. Play With This Too needs your support! Please follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, visit their website and help spread the word. And remember, in February 2015 their crowd funding campaign will launch and everyone will have the chance to purchase these figures. On November 22nd, the Cybercast interviewed Rik Alvarez. Here is a summary of the information revealed...
Play With This Too Stuff talked about: Play With This Toosday - They need to reveal things more regularly to get everything out before the Kickstarter, so reveals every Tuesday. This Tuesday they will reveal something that will appeal to Masters of the Universe fans. This figure idea was by Trent Troop and the design is by Aaron Archer. Talked about being asked to help Brian Savage for 5 years because Hasbro said he didn't know much about Transformers (being a GI Joe collector). He then went to Haslab at Hasbro under Aaron Archer. Hasbro let the Haslab people go. Talk about Steve Redinger, Trent Troop and Simon Furman's background. Asked why they went third party/independent rather than going to work for another company. They thought it was better to be in charge of themselves rather work under restraints. They have been working on this PWTT for a year and a half. He thinks toys are splitting into 2 markets, the kiddie stuff and the collector figures. The name Play With This Too comes from the store Play With This Toys & Collectibles that Rik used to work for. The company was originally called Shantel's Tears, but they needed a better name. Scott Talis was the owned of the store (the company logo, Talix, is named after him, modeled after a Colorforms alien from the 1950s, with some influence from Hoist Goes to Hollywood alien mask). The good guy faction is called Protectors, and the bad guys are called Heretics, but they are not a team, they are all independent. Rik grew up plaything with a lot of toy lines... Masters of the Universe, GI Joe, Inhumanoids, Sectaurs, Silverhawks, Thundercats, stuff that inspires his toys. Rik is most proud of The Mighty Muscules (rhymes with Hercules) Son of Tertosteros - Muscular guy with a mustache, wrestler, talks like Hulk Hogan, sash, strong arms, orange Tech Drone, wants to join the hero team. They will reveal him soon. He will be a Kickstarter exclusive. (sounds like Pretender Stranglehold to me). Asked about his character names. He wants names that describe who they are in the fiction, with He-Man type names. The toys will have tech specs or bios, and a custom box. The Tech Drones started as simple weapons that combiner into a scout vehicle. Mark Wong figured they would add some bits and they could combine into humanoid robots. They came up much later than the 6 inch figures. Fan feedback is important. They do read it and use it. They changed the wrists to be 5mm peg/holes from a suggestion. They might make a cape series as a stretch goal. Rik reads most of the boards. Cybercast asks if we will see Metalhawk or Grand inspired character. Rik has a character name Ironflight or Ironstrike. Blue helmet, wings, big weapon covered in 5m ports. Designed by Mark Wong. Will show him on a Tuesday. Cybercast asks if there will be any beasts or vehicles. Rik talks about beasts after the Kickstarter is over. He has an idea for 4 characters that are from one body, just change the head. He does have a humanoid character name Tri-Gorr, who has an animal head. He is a Beast that likes to Battle! ;-) Cybercast wonders if they will make a Modulok like character. Rik says they can swap limbs between figures. The Play With Yourself box set. Enough parts to make 2 figures in white or grey parts, for customizers. For fiction - Comic are expensive, so they can't start with those. Might be a prose story, there will be bio cards written by Aaron, Simon and Trent. There will be a digital book with bios, art, head shots bios, making of the figures. Rik is asked about what toys need updates - Sky-Lynx. When at Hasbro Rik used to document third party toys. When he was let go he bought a lot of it. He mostly collects third party TFs today. Cybercast asks him about Sectaurs - Both Josh the host and Rik collect them, and have almost complete sets. Asked if they will make a Sectaurs homage... Rik said all the brands mentioned before will be inspiration for PWTT. Micronauts and Centurions are mentioned. The host and Rik geek out over Captain Power for a few minutes. Rik loves Sauron the Sky Sentry. Feedback from people has been positive. Some people online have had the opposite opinion. Rik's crowd funding consultant says he has never seen a campaign promote this early. In the future they have a new thing planned, not transforming, that's very different. They also have licenses under works for figures in 2016. Asked what happens if figures sell out. Some figures will be Kickstarter exclusives. Some reissues will be different from the original to protect their investment as original. We will see prototypes in January or sooner. They had their first figure 3D printed and and it wasn't good enough, so they went out and recruited Christopher Dalhberg to make the digital sculpts, and Peer Brauner making tech drones and weapons. Rik is a fan of Micronauts - Biotron and Baron Karza. Then went into the Ken Christiansen Facebook Like Drive, talked about Hasbro vs. Takara for decos on Brainstorm, and some other topical news. |

New characters, but compatible with the design Play With This Too is using for it's Transformers homages, Serpents of the Coiled Table are a trio of snake men who will be available in their crowd funding this February.

Its Play With This Toosday! Every Tuesday from now until our crowd funding campaign begins in February 2015, we'll do reveals over our social networks. For our first "Toosday" reveal, here are our Serpents of the Coiled Table 3-pack. This concept was developed by Lord Trent of the Troop-lands and designed by Sir Steve the Redinger and Sir Aaron of House Archer.
"The Mysterious Serpents of the Coiled Table maintain order on their home-world of Aspalon. These fearsome cold-blooded warriors claim kinship with the snakes and serpent-men of all worlds and woe be to any man or machine that intervenes in their quests or, worse, goads them into battle. Serving the will of their lord, King Adder, are Sir Pythanore, a wise a cunning aide to the King, Sir Fangramore LeVenomous, powerful lashing warrior of unequaled strength and a host of eager young viper squires ready to test their mettle and earn their honor." Both Sir Pythanore and Sir Fangramore LeVenomous will be crowd funding exclusive characters. Additional Viper Squires will be available later on in different colors. The colors for the Viper Squire in this 3-pack will be exclusive to the set. |

Up and coming Kickstarter-funded figure maker Play With This Too has another Play With This Toosday reveal that thrilled fans with the announcement of two figures, one expected and one a complete surprise to most.
Ankhor is a heavy remold of their previously announced Astroblast done to look like the 1988 Pretender Waverider (also called Diver in Masterforce). This figure will be a stretch goal in their Kickstarter this February. An exclusive recolor of Ankhor will also be available called Mainsail, who seems to be inspired by Max Ray, the "Brilliant Sea Operations Commander" of the Centurions, a Kenner action figure line and cartoon of the 1980s! Both figures are highly articulated 6 inch tall figures with small transforming Tech Drone partners, and a whole slew of 5mm port weapons and accessories, as well as optional robot heads. Another fun fact is that Play With This Too will be selling the right to have your head used as the model foe the Ankhor figure in their Kickstarter, so start saving up your money and you might just become... more, much more, than meets the eye! https://www.facebook.com/PWTToo/phot...type=1&theater https://www.facebook.com/PWTToo/phot...type=1&theater |
