Apparently we don't have a thread dedicated to Fisher-Price's Imaginext toys, so I figured I'd start one.

Good, allow me to contribute
SERIES 1 14--ROYAL GUARD 15--SCUBA GUY 16--ALIEN OVERLORD 17--RACE CAR DRIVER 18--RAY MYSTERIO WRESTLER 19--JAMES BOND 20--PAPER TOWEL LUMBERJACK 21--THE MUMMY 22--SOCCER PLAYER 23--ROBOT SERIES 2 25--CAVEMAN 26--ARCTIC EXPLORER 27--COWBOY 28--FRANKENSTIEN 29--JUNGLE EXPLORER/CROCODILE DUNDEE/STEVE IRWIN 30--STEAMPUNK DUDE 31--BIGFOOT 32--GLIDER SUIT GUY SERIES 3 34--GILLMAN/BLACK LAGOON CREATURE 35--ZOMBIE 36--COSSACK 37--SKATEBOARDER 38--PUNK ROCKER 39--DRACULA 40--HAZMAT/BREAKING BAD WALTER 41--BOMB SQUAD WALMARTS, KMARTS, TARGETS are where I have been the luckiest and frankly, most folks are overlooking such a cool line. It has diversity, 3 inch figure and 2-3 accessories (good accessories), if you haven't looked at this line, take another look. Not only is there variety, but there is something wicked that was snuck into this by guys/girls like us with a sense of humor with a preschool toy. The Hazmat Walter from Breaking Bad is just one of them, Zombie/Jason Vorhees wore a sack over his head and one of the first things he used was a weed whacker to kill someone, yeah, that is in this line. Dontcha love it. Lumberjack--looks just like the guy on BOUNTY paper towels, Bigfoot is a man in costume, Jungle Explorer is either Croc Dundee or Steve Irwin, Wrestler is Ray Mysterio, Secret Agent is James Bond with Jet pack and grappling gun, ALL the major league Monsters--Creature from Black Lagoon, Dracula, Frankenstein, Zombie, ROBOT, Alien Overlord (maybe). Just a lot of stuff to enjoy. If you look at the line now, there is a lot of diversity. They have an ALPHA STAR fighter that looks like it was based off of WING COMMANDER the movie (not a great movie, but the jet fighter looking ships were okay). They have monsters, city workers like police, firefighters, ems, crooks, villains and heroes. Whats not to love? Oh yeah, and dinosaurs to walk your city streets. |

Thanks for compiling the codes - I'll grab a photo of that for future reference, as right now I have 3 different pics I need to refer to.
(For those wondering, the Imaginext Collectible Figures are blind-bagged like the LEGO Minifigures but they have a reference code imprinted into the foil at the pack's edge, which you can use to differentiate which figure is which.) As I mentioned in the various Reviews I've done of the line, there's a lot of retro-fun going on here. It's like the designers are putting in all these references like little ''winks to camera'' to see who gets them. The Alpha (and Ion) Space figures are modeled pretty much after every sci-fi toy line you had as a kid (from MOTU to Micronauts) and, like you said, there are so many cool little in-jokes like the Jason/Zombie and the Walter White/Hazmat guy. I also love just how affordable they are. You can get a vehicle/character set from about $6 and even their largest sets are still incredibly well-priced.

There's some awesome stuff there (not just the Imaginext stuff, either.) If I didn't have a bunch of stupid real world stuff I had to pay for, I'd be all over that!

Yeah, they're really good. There's a lot of imagination that goes into these and they're always extremely varied and very well done. I've never seen paint errors or broken pieces on them.
I was most impressed by the ogre from a while back. |

I'm wishing I'd picked up those larger aliens they did a while ago (the square-ish, 5'' or so tall ones) as they looked really cool. The annoying thing is, wherever I saw them had them on clearance! Bah!

That has got to hurt Iok.
Its funny, Im looking at the FP IMAGINEXT RESCUE HEROES now as JOE CUSTOMS especially with the hummer, chopper, atv, landing boat (wwII looking Safari transport with the ramp that unloads at the front), hell, even the Joker's tank. Lots of Joe goodness can be found. I was also looking at the Marvel small figures as well as their line of vehicles to supplement. Oh yeah, found the CDA chopper at Kohls online. and its on sale. not too shabby. Its very boxy and has a very utilitarian look to it. Im down with that. So does the CDA van. There is also the Carrier, Ocean ship and undersea exploring pod and a submarine. In fact, these would look great with the Chap Mei stuff as well. Considering I can buy 3 figures for the price of 1 Joe figure. I can deal. |

Considering I can buy 3 figures for the price of 1 Joe figure. I can deal. The thing Imaginext does well is what GI Joe USED to be - they're a TYPE of figure, rather than a specific line. Much as GI Joe's (the 12'' ones, anyway) were Adventurers and Cowboys and Soldiers, so they have a load of different themes in the Imaginext line and they can all work together, meaning you can pick and choose what works for your ''world.'' I'd love to see GI Joe be the same, so you could buy Rescue Joes or Adventurer Joes and Space Joes, rather than being tied to a character-specific continuity... And yeah, it's surprising when you look at the Imaginext toys how well they'd work as custom figures or with other lines. I have the Castle Battle Plan set and the throne and table are all Joe-scale pieces.
