Fisher Price is even going so far as to do a MYFPIDEAS.COM, just like LEGO IDEAS/Cuusso (sp?)
My ideas use to be for some new Playmobil stuff but this could work for FP as well. MARS MISSION --MARS EXPLORER ONE (CAPSULE WITH HABITAT, comes with Landing gear that you can pull down, also capsule disconnects for re-entry/escape, the main habitat will be able to connect to an Engine with fuel cells in a frame set--which also could be part of a space station set) --MARS ROVER, comes with two intrepid astronaut explorers who are on a mission to survey and collect geologic samples. Comes with variety of accessories that fit into compartments on MARS ROVER RIG. --WARP SHIP ---The ship that supposedly go to warp, looks like something out of STAR TREK but looks cool and sleek and comes with RINGS that change colors and emits all kind of cool sounds. Comes with pilot and co-pilot, also eva packs. --MARS HABITAT , This is the old pack and play sets, you can open it and elevate it on pylons that pull out, comes with mini rover and various accessories and 3 explorers. I also was thinking about the old fisher price line....THE ADVENTURE PEOPLE...the original action figure in the 3 3/4 scale.

I can't believe they have never done an Adventure People anniversary line. It's a cash cow just waiting to be born.

I'm actually working on a comparison of then and now and what potential the AP and Imaginext line still have. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Agreed. It would be awesome to see them again.
And going back to an earlier point, it's another line that did so well by having sub-themes. GI JOE TAKE NOTE!

I thought the 6 wheeled ATV was pretty cool and functional and went with the Eagle quite well. |

I wonder if FISHER PRICE would ever do an RETURN TO ADVENTURE anniversary line. Considering how many of us grew up with the ADVENTURE SERIES line and now that Imaginext is really going beyond...my God, look at the BATTLE ROVER, its basically a HALO MAMMOTH/grocery cart turned into a giant roving playset. That means to me that they are taking this to the next level and they WILL spend the money to make BIG sets. Im not sure how many of you actually look at these vehicles but there is a ton of detail in the vehicles and playsets.
The Big Question is, would FP do an anniversary line and if so, should it be an updated version of the AP or Classic AP? Figures used to be sold on a blister card and sometimes it was two figures with accessories. FIREMAN/NURSE-stretcher, backpack, blanket. CONSTRUCTION GUYS X2--3 ladders MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS X 2--backpacks and harness x 2 with grappling hooks and rope. DIVERS X 2--scuba gear x 2, small dingy Indvidual Figures AND 3 Packs RACER FIREMAN NURSE PILOT SCUBA GUY CLAWTRON, ROBOT, DARK CLAW The first 4 sets were numbered 303--EMERGENCY RESCUE TRUCK #303 The Adventure People and Their Emergency Rescue Truck 304--SAFARI SET #304 The Adventure People and Their Wild Animal Safari 305--RESCUE COPTER #305 The Adventure People and Their Air-Sea Rescue Copter 306--SPORT PLANE #306 The Adventure People and the Daredevil Sport Plane Even if they could just do one, I think the EMERGENCY TRUCK would be key. I like the idea of a modernized truck, something that would be really tough and durable and look modern. Fisher Price Imaginext Fire Truck with Lights and Sound | eBay If FP could slightly enlarge this vehicle, it has small compartments on the side, the back opens to allow access to the rear hold, a very generous extendable ladder plus a rugged looking appearance that can basically handle any and all off road business. |

I think doing a small run of the AP ADVENTURE SERIES figures would be retro enough and cool enough that it might spark interest again. Yes, they were simple figures, but they were realistic enough to garner the name..action figure. They could sit, stand, grab a rope or hold a steering wheel with a bent arm, they could turn and lower their head to allow for some pretty human movements as well as tuck into tight spaces like a land speed racer. All in all, its a figure line that is a nice bridge into the bigger world of action figures and vehicles. I believe this line would resonate with my generation as well as younger ones that aren't familiar with the line.
By doing a small run, FP could tap into the nostalgia market as well as possibly create a new one with a younger generation that wants to graduate out of the preschool phase and into big kids stuff. |
