Ok so I was having a conversation with a friend this afternoon and we took a stroll down memory lane and got to talking about a large white vehicle/ base that his brother had traded me when we were kids. Now his brother passed away back in 2000 (we love you Jay) so its not like we can ask him what it was and we cannot find a picture anywhere. So I thought maybe some of you guys could help. I know it was definitely not gijoe and it seemed very star warsesque. It was from the 80's or late 70s I want to say. About the size of the gi joe mobile command center maybe slightly bigger and kind of millenium falcon in shape maybe? If my memory serves me right it was mostly white or off white. Any ideas?

Sorry for the loss of your friend.
Was it a vehicle for sure or a play set? The Star Wars Death Star was largely very light grey save for the elevator and garbage compactor. The Star Wars Star Destroyer was grey, black and blue but more vehiclesque. Was it a flying vehicle? Land, sea? Check out rebel scum.com and see if it was a Star Wars set. That sight is their YOJOE.

Can you remember any play features? That may be helpful.

if I had to guess, I'd say it was one of the star wars hoth playsets.

When I started reading, my mind went straight to the GI Joe 'General', as it's large, white (mostly), and its a vehicle but also arguably a base as well. But when you started making star wars comparisons, the 'General' seems less likely the toy in question.

Do you remember if it was a vehicle or a fixed location base?
Maybe the old Space 1999 Eagle 1 vehicle? John Kenneth Muir's Reflections on Cult Movies and Classic TV: Collectible of the Week: Space:1999 Eagle 1 Spaceship (Mattel; 1976) But mine was off-white just because it was old so maybe not that.

The first thing I think of which sounds similar is the Wheeled Warriors Battle Base.
If that's not it try looking up Christmas catalogs on Flickr for instance- you may find a picture of the item. Let us know. |
