I was wondering if most collectors of GI Joe only collected GI Joes, or do you collect other stuff as well. I grew up in the 80's and 90's, so I like a lot of stuff of course. Star Wars, Heman, Transformers, Marvel, DC, Lego, Ninja Turtles, and now Doctor Who. I'm trying to limit myself on the other stuff, so my GI Joe collection can grow more. It's just hard to resist buying other things when GI Joe is not in retail stores and it's expensive online. So, what does everyone think of this?

I collect a little of everything, with my main focuses (as of now) being on:
G.I.Joe new & old Transformers new & old Star Wars (you guessed it) new & old Legos/Kre-Os/building blocks Acid Rain "Random" Lines like Starcom, Wheeled Warriors, etc. The eventual Boss Fight Studio line. |

Just joes, very little transformers, and Kreo
I thought Thundercats was odd, and I never got the idea of it. Same with TMNT. Star Wars, well, my other posts mention my views of it. Last edited by CrackerJacks; 05-26-2014 at 03:20 PM.. |

It just seems like my GI Joe collection is hurting because I collect other stuff. There is just a lot of old vehicles I would like to get and also some new figures, that are expensive of course.

Seems like almost everyone on here collects at least one other line than GI Joe. I am still a Star Wars nut, so I collect that as well as Joes. My son loves Power Rangers and Legos, so I am always looking for that stuff for him (and I think those are cool, too). I have also moved into the Joe Kreo stuff as well.

At one time I collected WAY more than Joes. Joes weren't even really on my radar when I started collecting as an adult, actually. It was McFarlane that actually got me into collecting, starting with Spawn and getting into a little of almost everything they made except the sports stuff. As I became more aware of what else was out there, I got into a ton of stuff related to video games, TV and comics (back in the late 90's/early 00's, EVERYTHING and ANYTHING could get at least a series or two of toys made) and eventually rediscovered G.I. Joe when Hasbro started releasing the two-packs in 2000.
These days, I am patiently waiting for the Masters of the Universe line to wrap up (actually am planning to drop it at the end of the year regardless of if its finished - too much of a pain in too many ways to go on with it), am occasionally buying Transformers, love the recent Marvel Legends but am by no means a completest, and would happily buy Joes if any new ones showed up. TL;DR: I am evolving away from collecting entire lines, still grab things I just think are cool, but would be primarily a Joe collector again if I could be. The most likely forecast for my collecting career after this year, though, is retirement.

I've collected 1/64 NASCAR diecast since 1990. Otherwise, all Joes since 2008. I only buy between 15-20 cars a year, so very little trumps my Joe spending capabilities...short of having available funds. ;)
