I wonder if anyone can recall what line this toy was or have pictures of it. I remember an older kid on the street had it in the early 80s. It looked like a black dragon fly but mechanical like it was a spaceship it had purple plastic wings. I looked big but I think no figures could fit in it, or the scale was smaller than star wars.
Anyone know? |

Sounds like the Micronauts Hornetroid. It would've been in scale with Star Wars, and had a opening cockpit, though...

I'd agree that it sounds like the Hornetroid, aside from the cockpit thing. The top half of the head lifted up to allow a figure to sit inside.

The only other line I can think of is Sectaurs, but their vehicles were glove puppets.

Maybe you could be combining memories of the Hornetroid and the Starbird Intruder.

Thanks all. Looks like it was the hornetroid. Sadly, I remember thinking it was much cooler looking :(

The only Micronaut toys I had growning up was the Hornetroid, and an orange Pharoid.
I remember my brother bitching when I tried to use them when we played Star Wars, but he didn't mind using Terron for a huge Tattoine beast. I had the Hornetroid taken apart, and my mom was on a cleaning spree and threw it away because she thought it was broken. I remember crying and telling her its supposed to come apart and wasn't broken. I wasn't big enough to dig it out of the trash. I don't remember what happened to my Pharoid, but I still have the sarcophogus. |
