Review: Movie toy Terminator Salvation, Hunter Killer
By Samantha Adams Made by Playmate 2009 (Retail price $19.98 to $24.99) Front to back 12 inches, side to side 7 inches, top to bottom 2 ½ (One figure fits inside, pilot figure is included) Sitting beside me on the cold Formica wood surface of my computer desk is a Terminator Salvation, Hunter Killer. It is painted in a grayish black color only offset by patches of black used to show underlying mechanics. At first glance the Hunter Killer reminds me of a wingless bird with its broad midsection and v-shaped tail but on further inspection the shape invokes a feeling of sleekness and speed. After freeing it from its box I found myself inspired to fly it around my chair wildly, reminiscent of my childhood days when sitting still on the floor only meant my arms where still free to fly a jet or spacecraft in pursuit of its next mission. The Hunter Killer is made of a very sturdy feeling plastic while its movable parts are made of a much less sturdy variety. There are two landing gears in the rear of the ship and one in the front. These three landing gears allow the ship to sit on a flat surface. The ship sports two side mounted engines that can be moved in a circular motion via a dial like mechanism that sits directly in the center of the two jets. This play function does not take away from the over all look of the ship. There are two missiles that can be fired by two hidden buttons that are mounted towards the front of the ship. The missiles can be fired from 6 to 14 inches from their launch tubes (I tested this many, many times to get this range). There is also a hatch located on the bottom that opens to allow a figure to fit inside as its pilot. The ship also sports two front and aft gun pairs that add to the play value but do nothing special. The vehicle comes with a T-700 Terminator figure (I will review this figure at a later date) It does not include any stickers and assembly out of the box is pretty standard. In the opinion of this reviewer, this toy is solid. It has many play features and is very sleek in its design. The entire shape of the vehicle is beautifully designed. The only draw back being that it is just too small. If it had been at least twice the size I would have completely fallen in love with it but then that would have at least doubled its price. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this Toy a 9 I hope this review is helpful, it is the first one I have done. see pictures bellow
