The heroes were these Native American/Frontier wars, Cavalry-esque guys and their enemies were a bunch of Mad Max rejects. My parents got them for me about '94-'95. the large playset of the line was a helicopter for the bad guys.
The figure's size (from my vague memories) were just like those old TMNT Mini mutants toys. You put them inside some Mad Max-like cars (the heroes had spring loaded launchers for their vehicles, while the antagonists had a melee weapons like a buzzsaw or a drill) that had a switch on its side so that when you hit it with another vehicle, it kinda exploded (IE, the top half blows off along with the driver). They also had some sort of launcher but not like the ones that Hot Wheels cars has, just something that pushed the car without something to secure it in place. I'm sorry if its all vague and uninformative, but a little help would be appreciated in identifying the name of this toyline.

It's named "Road Wars" and is a sub set of the Hot Wheels line. They also come with micro action figures that fit in the cars.
The "Calvary esque" guy you mentioned: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1994-Mattel-H...-/380620999072 Last edited by Plasticfan; 02-23-2014 at 06:56 AM.. |

I knew it was Hot Wheels, but didn't know the name of the line. I remeber some playset that looked like a destroyed Statue of Liberty.

It seems like every few years Mattel comes up with something awesome & in house, through the Hotwheels brand, that they can never seem too make stick for more than a wave.

It's weird how ''micro figures'' and vehicles seem to be making a comeback. Mega Bloks has the Halo/CoD sets and Hasbro is launching some Guardians of the Galaxy ships with mini-figures...

I came across this line last year and found myself intrigued. I *almost* bought into it and probably would have if i had a nostalgic connection. Maybe i'll combine a Mega Bloks Call of Duty micro figure and a Road Wars figure and get the best of both worlds. Or maybe i'll just continue to admire them from afar lol |

Does anyone else remember a hot wheels line with cars that sort of transformed? The end result was like a robot surfing.

Another Hot Wheels line that i found myself interested in in the last 2 years. What Mattel could have made off of me had they invested in better articulation. ...and once again i'm considering bashing Mega Bloks COD joints onto MAttel product. That robot wearing a cowboy hat would rock heh. |
