I've seen a tray display for these at Barnes n Nobles but they were sold out of all the figures that were in it.

Was the tray specific to the Alien line, or a general Funko display?

I'm not a fan generally of ''retro'' toys, as I think a lot of them are just an excuse to produce cheap figures and charge more money and I'm not really that taken by the ReAction figures. However, I think both the Alien and Universal Monster lines look great, as they do genuinely look like vintage toys and for me, that's the key to making a good retro figure.

I've seen Terminator, Back to the Future, Escape from New York, and Firefly figures at TRU. Someone must have gotten these figures up to 88 miles per hour. Because they look like some serious sh*t.

I think the problem with those figures is that there were never any figures to do a homage to in the first place, so they just come off as looking like bad modern-day figures. The Alien ones are at least based on original designs and the Universal Monsters figures are clearly a tribute to the Remco figures, so they work out just fine in my book.

cracks me up how so many people don't get the idea behind these things...
They will blend seamlessly with your vintage StarWars collection and even look like decent background fodder with your ARAH Joe collection. If you are looking for highly detailed super-posable action figures to go with your Modern Era toy collection you should look elsewhere... |

I get the point of it. The Alien figures are at least based on figures that just weren't produced. They fit with vintage SW just fine. The others heads are too big, they look like dollar store knockoffs and the paint is terrible.

I get the Alien figures and think they're great. Ditto the Universal Monsters ones. The issue I have with them is that if there HAD been a BTTF line in 1985 - and especially if there'd been a Firefly line in 2002 - the figures wouldn't have looked like that. THAT'S where the concept breaks down, IMO.
