GI Joe's ''cousin'' Captain Action (the line of crime fighter/superhero-themed toys that were the follow-up line from GI Joe creator Stan Weston) has had a bit of a resurgence lately with the CA Enterprises/Round 2 12'' figures and costumes but they're now partnering with ZICA (the company behind the retro 6 Million Dollar Man figures) to create a line of 3 3/4'' figures.
ZICA Toys is very happy to be working with Captain Action Enterprises on bringing the exciting characters of the Captain Action universe into 3.75″ retro figure format! This scale will allow us to do a lot of really cool stuff with the property in addition to just making the action figures. My favorite thing about the smaller scale figures when I was a kid was the vehicles and playsets that went with them, and I can definitely see some exciting possibilities for these with Captain Action!” said Craig Owen, owner of ZICA. Captain Action Enterprises, headed up by Ed Catto and Joe Ahearn, has already been producing the classic 12-inch line, styled after the original 1960s figures, with costumes for various Marvel characters. They’re even planning an animated series, as well as a line of DC outfits. And they’ve already been publishing comics with Dynamite. “We’re excited to jump into the this exciting segment, and have been very impressed with the Six Million Dollar Man toys from ZICA,” Catto said. Plans call for the first wave to include characters such as Captain Action, Action Boy, Dr. Evil and the Silver Streak. “We’re also very excited to work with ZICA to develop vehicles and playsets,” Ahearn said. “And we will also be exploring the development of vehicles such as the Silver Streak, Captain Action’s amphibious car, in other scales and formats.” I have the 12'' Captain Action and Doctor Evil figures and they're really very cool (you can tell they're by and for collectors with a love of the line) so I'm really excited to see where they go with these toys. An article on a French site referred to them as having ''classic GI Joe''-style articulation, so hopefully we'll be getting more than just 5 points. But even so, if the sculpts are good I could probably live with that... That Figures: NEWS: 3 3/4'' Captain Action Figures!

I kinda liked the horribly retro look of those figures. From what I gather though they're going more old school GI Joe-ish, which would be cool. Either way I'm sure I'll be picking them up.

More retro 3.75 figures? Sounds good.

I really like the Captain Action 12'' figures and the guys at CA Enterprises are fans of the line themselves (it's very much a labor of love on their part) so I'm hoping these figures will be as cool as their larger scale counterparts. And being originally a 60s toy line it would be great to see that same retro aesthetic as the 12'' figures have translated to a smaller scale.

I'll wait and see, but I like the idea of more 3 3/4" vehicles and playsets.

The 6 Million Dollar Man figures retail for $20. I wonder if these will be the same. BTW The 12" CA figures are on clearance at TRU

I've no idea. Hopefully they'll be able to hit at a decent price.

I like the look of the ZICA retro-stuff. Not sure I'd really buy much of it, although I may crack for the Twilight Zone ones.
Wasn't the selling point of Captain Action that you could buy other characters costumes for him and dress him as other characters? How will they translate that (they probably won't)? How deep does the normal Captain Action roster go to stand on its own? |

But yeah, the whole identity changing thing is the only part I don't see translating too well. Unless they're doing some kind of weird build-a-figure/mash 'ems type modular toy. Which would just be awful.
