The execs at the toy companies are sitting around the boardroom. Bossman says, "you know - action figure sales have been off a bit."
"yeah, ever since they got above $6 per figure - noone wants to buy as many", responds Underling. "How can we rectify the situation? Better figures? More articulation? Lower prices?", asks Bossman. Underling responds, "sure... all of those points are valid. We should start there..." Oh, oh, how about this - we take the most popular characters of each line - and we make them three feet tall - with almost no articulation - and sell them for $35 a piece. It will appear to be a great bargain, since they are so huge", Bossman replies. "Isn't that the exact opposite of what we should be doing?" "no, no, its genius. make it happen" .............. Six months later - you can find stacks and stacks of these things on the Walmart Closeout shelves. Marked down to $24 and still not getting any bites. I don't get it. Where do they come up with these ideas? |

It would be nice if the actually made 3' figure for characters that are supposed to be that scale. Here's some figures I got from the Latin American Max Steel line (from 2007 and 2009):
The Battle Armor is 20" and is Max Steel in a giant battle armor (obviously). The monster is 26" and Elementor in his giant form from one of the animated movies. I actually wouldn't mind picking up the Power Ranger on clearance. I could use him as a different character. |

My 3 year old son loves his jumbo Clone Trooper, great for target practice with his nerf blaster.

It's only a relatively new phenomenon when it comes to boy-targeted properties.
I think McFarlane's insistence on using a scale that the industry abandoned 15 years ago is a dumber idea. |

Why do these exist...but the largest Godzilla toy I could find at Toys R Us last week was about 12 inches.

To us as collectors it is kind of pointless, sure, but to a little kid...to have a Darth Vader or a Spider-Man that is almost as big as he is has got to be like, the coolest thing ever.
