Otherwise it's just a hobby. By the nature of the business, quite a lot of product is unsold, so it either takes up room, becomes obsolete, or mulches unless sold to someone finally. While it is sitting there though, you lose money because money that is sitting there does not make you more money, which means its wasted. The type of toy you are selling matters greatly as well as each has different properties. Various rules and theories govern how you should sell each toy. For example, lego and megabloks toys are sold in builder sets, and minifigure blindpacks. The rules for those are different from how cases of 3.75 inch figures sell, but mini figures share many rules to how 3.75 inch figure cases sell. To make matters worse, NO ONE will tell you how the theories and rules work, you need to develop them yourself. Difficult, but true. I will give you some observation for free though. 1. Movie Toy line cases sell terribly: Don't buy them. They're usually terrible for one reason or another. Exceptions are uncommon and easy to spot though. 2. Hasbro Star Wars Cases almost ALWAYS sell poorly: One word. Repetition. 3. Good deals are temporary: Seriously, Pounce on sales and great deals. You're a toy shop? By definition that means you're a scalper, a profiteer. Be prepared to be evil (Just kidding). 4. Do not buy things that seem useless even if they're popular: They probably are useless, or you have no clue what it's worth, which is worse. |

Most everything has been said that needs to be said but I will add this one major point that was hinted at but not simply stated: KNOW THE PRODUCT.
Like Snake Eyes said, movie and Star Wars cases generally sell bad. It is all based on assortments. When all preorders for cases (and all items for that matter) become available, you have to know which ones to buy and which ones to stay away from. The worse thing you can do is overbuy pegwarmers.
