It’s pretty obvious. Corps product isn’t on brick and mortar shelves because retailers won’t carry it. This nonstop shipping delays excuse is total bullshit. He keeps reiterating that Walmart never carried the full line. No shit. No one said they did. What they did carry from the time I was a child until a few years ago, is the carded figure assortments and multiple vehicles. We didn’t dream that Walt. That’s how it was. I know, I bought the shit for years, and now I can’t. Dollar general used to carry their carded figures as well. Now they don’t. They stock other discount military toys. I don’t pretend to know the reasoning why Lanard can’t get their corps product in brick and mortar US stores anymore, but it’s obvious they can’t. Except for special holiday only items like Sam’s multipacks or that stupid $20 4 way assault crap, that apparently Walmart passed on carrying in store for Christmas this year as well. I think Lanard makes awesome toys, I love the Corps. They’ve been a great supplement to my Joe line since I was a kid. But between not being able to find the stuff, and Walt’s years of shitposting, it’s hard to keep interested in the line. Really, I stop by here now for entertainment more than anything. So we’ll always have that, Lanard.

I agree. We can no longer use Covid as an excuse in shipping delays when companies like Fresh Monkey Fiction, Chick Fried Toys and Roboskull are having items delivered timely. Yeah in 2020 things got real slow but shit man, there may still be delays but you can’t say Lanard product is delayed due to Covid stuff when these mom and pops are shipping items without that delay.

And let's not forget that despite "global shipping delays" Lanard is apparently able to ship things to a warehouse where they sit waiting for a once a year sale for some reason.
For whatever reason, retailers ain't buying The Corps. End of story. You'd think budget toys would be in demand, which leads me to think either Lanard is asking too high of wholesale prices or they just have some real shit salespeople. I suspect it's both.

Actually COVID is still a major factor. The factory several of those groups you mentioned are using could only at times have 40% of their workforce onsite. I do not know if that has been lifted yet or not. I believe they were picking projects they could easily get done with the staff they could bring in, likely to enable positive cash flow as I assume they don't get paid until product is delivered. So do smaller, easier to fill orders to get money flow. The same factory seemingly has done nothing with Raginspoons KS for the Complex series 2, and barely seems to have touched CFTs KS for the Calvary, we haven't seen much about the actual Roboskull or the new figures with it or the MTF Nam KS have we. Those are all HUGE orders - and so likely not prioritized with a small workforce and a need for positive cash flow.

Lanard has its manufacturing in China still and China is shutting down the factories, ports, and doing full lockdowns everytime a new covid variant hits. China had several shutdowns this year. So Covid is actually still affecting them. The Time crisis figs I got at Ollies all have the China stamp on them.
Hasbro swapped its manufacturing to Vietnam and India (not sure about India none of my figs have the India stamp a lot have Vietnam) so won't be affected like Lanard is. Other toy manufacturers have and are pulling out of China in mass. The constant supply chain and manufacturing delays, labor costs going up, and political factors are making China a bad country to do business in for most manufacturers. Vietnam and India are the new hotness. Lanard needs to shift countries as China has cost them years of sales now. Edit: TLDR. If the product is made in China expect a year or two delay still. We get you slaymaker. Honestly it's just that we're
fed up with Tk Prime and his anti-marketing. I think Shadow Ninja and me are on the same page. We would love the product. . . . . if TK Prime had shut up years ago instead of promising product is coming to the United States 24/7 for 4-5 years straight and then the company fails to bring product to market yet again. |
