Smokebellew I'm fully aware of preproduction timeframes. But gijoe ARAH wasn't conceptualized until after the USA vs USSR hockey game in 1980. That's what kickstarted ARAH. and only the 82,83 lineup was conceptualized, Mego had Eagle Force's full lineup drawn up in 80/81.
I'll stand by what I said, Mego was copied especially visually. If you don't see it, that's okay. But this conversation was talking earlier about how multiple toylines were at market running parallel with one another, Which doesn't make one lesser than the other. Remco has Warlord fans just as Mattel has Motu fans. The same with Remco having sgt rock vs the bad guys out and the bad guys emblem was a cobra. For use with lines are common across toylines. Too many joe fans forget remco, mego, galoob, olmec, and just ignore that there were a lot of lines out there in the 80s at the same time all competing for kids attention. Many of those third parties lines failed, or phased out completely. But Lanard has kept going. The Corps! Brand is not living in the shadow of gijoe. Some here will always have the mentality otherwise and hey, that's okay. But the Corps! Have their own story, which is being build out. (Slowly, but it is happening) I would loved to have shown products early to you all, my hand are tied, you won't believe anything till you can see it, and touch it, which I understand. And I am really going to love hearing everyone's thoughts on the assortment when you all see them here on shelves. For more info on all CORPS! I recall one of the designers saying most of the original 13 Joes were directly based on the classic plastic Army men with a girl and commando thrown in. It was up to Marvel to give them names and personalities beyond that.
Its also worth considering that when various toy companies went under in the late 70's early 80s the designers went to work at Hasbro as it was growing at the time and took their designs for 3 3/4" figures from lines that never got into production to Hasbro. |

Lanard is a smaller company than many here realize. But lanard products are not the simple "for use with" brands they once were, Now the Corps! Product line stands on it's own merits.
Some here are always going to only see lanard as a "for use with" line and that's fine, let's see how everyone feels after the new assortments debut and hit domestic retailers and e-commerce sites later this year. I cannot wait to hear everyone's reactions. Especially when they see what's All New and not "recycled" Quote:
20 years later and their still trying to sell it. Quote:

How DARE you!
The Dreamcast was like one of those 1-2 year toy lines that people look back as being WAY cooler and more deserving of attention than it got in the day.

You said: Gijoe ripped off the 1980/81 Eagle force line by Mego...right down to a "barefoot judo expert"
I think both lines were taking from Bruce Lee, Shang-Chi and every martial arts character that emerged from the kung fu boom of the 70s. As for a ninja, one of the first Western usages of ninja was in Cannon's Enter the Ninja in 1981, with Sho Kosugi's character -- and connection to Franco Nero's Western character being accepted by the clan -- being more what was an influence than anything else, but that said, I'm certain Larry Hama was attending his fair share of martial arts movies in NYC. I don't mind the non-stop goal post moving, making fun of everything every other company does and secretive "I work for Lanard" and must protect my sources spy writing and think you have a good heart. But you've now moved into GI Joe ripped off everything instead of Lanard didn't steal anything from Hasbro. Please take this in the best of faith and please just report when you find actual figures or your sources allow you to. Otherwise, you make yourself into a target for the moronic imbeciles on this site that find one-eyed monster jokes funny in their late 40s. |
