I am always coming across this Spawn, or this Dragon or something else put out by McFarlane. You have these great detailed, accessorized figures. Why do they alway go for so cheap, MOC or loose. It blows my mind because who wouldn't want some of these figures on display. So many other toys lines copy the detail like Halo or Marvel Legends and reach for more, even when they are only 3 3/4. Did McFarlane rub collectors the wrong way, are the overproduced or just too strange?

being fragile and having low-to-zero articulation doesn't do them any favors.

They display nice, but like USAgent says, too fragile. At the time they were pretty damned pricey. I bought a few of the Viking series because I used to be into the Conan/Viking swords, medieval shit... but all of their arms fell off just getting shipped to me.
I also had some carded X-Files figures that simply separated from the card after a while.

Some figures still pull quite a nice sum on the secondary (particularly the females in states of extreme undress). I think a lot of it is that McFarlane is pretty much just Halo, Sports Picks/Playmakers and The Walking Dead. Halo and TWD are in their own, weird scale that NO ONE ELSE uses. It's almost like they don't even give a fuck anymore.
He had several lines, both licensed properties and original products, tank badly, and NECA has stolen a lot of their thunder. It's probably lucky that McF is still around. Lot of companies have gone tits-up in the last seven years. Last edited by Konigstiger; 07-29-2013 at 08:03 PM.. |

I've got a 'cousin-in-law' that works for him as a colorist. He said next time we come down to Phoenix he could schedule a meet with him- maybe I could ask he why he keeps screwing up the Halo scale.
