Can someone please explain something to me, if there is indeed a logical explanation? I don't mean for this to come off as a rant thread, I seriously want to discuss the economic reasoning at play here. I recently bought a mint-in-sealed-box Zentraedi Officer's Battlepod from the Exo Squad/Robotech line from 1994 on eBay for $125.00. It seems a little steep, but for a 20 year old item still new in the box, I feel it was worth it. Yesterday, I saw another one, identical to the one I bought, MISB, on eBay priced for a mind boggling $250.00! If it was a rare, vintage Star Wars, GI Joe or Transformers item, I could understand, but its freaking Robotech Exo Squad, not even the original Robotech packaging, which would be older and nicer looking! F'n Exo Squad!? My real question here is, what economic reasoning is going on in the (would-be)seller's head? Are they hoping for a Saudi prince with a second-rate toy collection to come along?

I think that some sellers test the water to see if they get any hits on it, then adjust price accordingly. Then you have some who think that if it is old they can get a lot out of it based on other auctions with different toy lines. I do not think that there is any rhyme or reason to it. I think they try to get as much as they can.

I've noticed this too. If nothign else the Exosquad versions have better quality plastic and stickers, and the regular battle pod is colored more accurately.

Yeah, all sellers get 50 free listings per month, so they're really not losing anything for putting something up and just hoping for a bite. If they're not desperate to move the product, might as well leave it out there for a higher price.
