I don't know if anyone has said anything yet, but...
I'd buy these things NOW while you have a chance. I grabbed the Hand/Shield/Hydra 3-pack and some Secret Wars characters, along with some extra figures (currently working on Iron Patriot and War Machine customs, as well as Deadpool as Weapon X). Disney is in charge of all of Marvel's merchandising, so these are HOT. Pretty soon you'll be forced to buy 2-packs at the Disney store with Hulk vs. Hannah Montana. |

Cool! I can't wait for the Hulk vs Hannah Montana 2 pack from Disney now being major owner of Marvel Entertainment. Thanks for the heads up.
I think I'll grab a Hannah and use her as a base to create a Claire Bennet so I can have my Joes and heroes save the cheerleader to save the world in 3 3/4. Yes, I know it was a joke about an upcoming 2 pack, but it would be sweet! |

In either case, Disney or no Disney, Hasbro will still be able to make Marvel figures until their current contract expires in 2017. So unless poor sales do it in, the Marvel Universe line will likely be around for many years to come. Maybe it's different where you live, but around here there hasn't been any greater movement on the MU line since news of the buyout, and for good reason...because the buyout doesn't affect the MU line in the near future. I don't know why you'd feel the need to imply alarmist stuff like this, but hey, more power to ya. Last edited by Jmacq1; 09-21-2009 at 01:07 PM.. |

It was to my understanding when reading the original article that Disney held all merchandising of Marvel. I'll dig that up if I can.

Hasbro still holds the Marvel license until 2017. That deal is not altered by the Disney buyout, and the Disney buyout also hasn't been completed yet (and likely won't be until towards the end of the year...assuming that the two lawsuits that have been filed over the deal don't prevent it from happening).

The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies - Corporate Press Releases - 090831
Here's the original statement. I recall at some point a Disney spokesperson saying that it is best that all Marvel's merchandise is under Disney's control. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. Either way, I'd still buy them- before long Deadpool, Punisher, and Nick Fury will be using "laser blasters" and the characters are going to get both kid- and girl-friendly. I don't know what "girl-friendly" means in comic book terms, but I've got a feeling that Tony Stark may start to respect women and want to talk about their feelings, and Deadpool could be dancing on stage with the Jonas Brothers. |

Marvel Entertainment made the announcement that the Hasbro toy deal is good until 2017
Hasbro, Marvel and Spider-Man Merchandising Extend Deal - ComingSoon.net The article is from February, but I've since read that the Disney deal doesn't affect Hasbro's toy license. I just haven't found the article yet. Here it is: Hasbro Update From Disney Buyout Of Marvel Last edited by sharky; 09-21-2009 at 01:37 PM.. |

Seriously, there's zero reason...ZERO REASON...to think Disney is suddenly going to start changing the characters. Disney operates many subsidiary companies with a hands-off approach.
