Thanks again everyone for your prayers and well wishes. Here's the most current updates I can give you: This past Friday my daughter went for her second chemo treatment. When they tested her vitals and her blood levels, they noticed that something was seriously awry. She was rushed to the emergency room for more testing. Several hours later the results came back, and things had made a turn for the worst. She has acute renal failure. In English, that means her kidneys have almost completely shut down on her. Yet another side effect of the lupus. She's had another blood transfusion, and has been on dialysis once a day since Friday, but we're being told that's potentially not enough to sustain her/keep her alive. In short, there's a high probability that she'll need a kidney transplant. I'm a match blood-wise, and I'd give her all of my organs if I could, but for now she just needs a healthy kidney. So I have to go through a few tests to determine if my kidney(s) is/are healthy enough for donation. If I'm not (and I pray to whatever higher power there is that I am), she'll be on the transplant list, and there's no guarantee that she'll get the kidney in time if it comes to that. Paul and Dolf, I'll get your stuff out to you as soon as I can. I just need some time to get my head straight. Again. |

great pic of her! I scanned a lot of Surge pics trying to find the best combo- I went with the black/yellow so it could match Rockslide (Dust and X always have to be the outcast in their own threads) I'm waiting on a Kitty pryde now so i can put pixie together... I'll try to go with the same team look if she wore anything like that around that time.... for her wings I'm probably going to have to butcher tinkerbell or one of her friends... maybe a MLP... (Wasp's wings came from one of those cheap giant bug transforming toys)

Just white duct tape found at any ol' Fred Meyer. I like white because I can see the paint over it the best. comes off easy and holds a good seal as long as you are careful at applying it... I have always used loctite superglue (control gel) for all my figures and 40k models. it's really really strong- but if you over-do it you'll get your plastic eaten. also- if you set it then adjust it you need to clean it and start over as once you've broken the initial bond it's shit on holding

I don't know what to say Al, except stay hopeful, she's young and strong and I'm sure she'll get through this. We're here to listen.

@Al - There are so many things I could say to wish your daughter the best, but that still wouldn't be enough. I just truly wish that everything works out quickly and smoothly. Your entire family must be bouncing scenerios all over the place right now, and it must be exhausting. I cannot imangine what you are going through, but hopefully your time here will give you a moment to clear your thoughts and prepare you to fight another battle. Best wishes to all.

We're all here for you Al. My dad-in-law was on the heart transplant list once and I'll never forget the day I stood on the top floor of the St. Vincent hospital in L.A. and watched the helicopter land with his salvation literally in hand. I wish you all the best. I know you and her doctors will do everything they can for her.

I just rip a piece a few inches long- stick it to this clipboard- or desk- or whatever piece of furniture I'm about to destroy (I've got a small piece of tile under my desk that I'm supposed to use for cutting but i always forget about it) Then I just take a metal ruler and xacto to it. Most strips don't have to be perfectly aligned- just straight along one edge is fine; only when I'm using the tape and painting around it so that I'll have a line of original color when the tape is removed do I need to worry about the width of the tape
