For anyone who's interested in this toy line, CTG Links now has the majority of the regular versions of the Battletech mechs up in their archive seen here: Tyco Battletech Toy Archive
I'm trying to find all info I can about the Tyco Battletech toyline. I'm hoping to get a toy archive of this toyline online but I'm having a little trouble with figuring out excatly what parts go to who. Specifically, what helmet came with Valten Ryder. If anyone has a scan of the Bushwacker box, or the instructions, or just knows what helmet came with him, I'd appreciate any info. RE-EDIT: Got the answer for my first question, now I need to know if anyone has seen or knows of the exsistance of the "Camo Versions" of the Battletech toys. Virtual Toy Chest says there were regular and camo versions. I found a picture of some of the "camo" versions (If you can call neon camoflage ) so they do exsist....now I have to get them |

Also wondering if anyone can confirm that there were two versions of each mech (A regular and a camo version) as I've only seen 1 version of each mech

No idea if this helps, but the first Battletech mech designs were basically Macross Destroid body imitations...so maybe you might find some info using some of macrosses info...Again NO IDEA if this helps just trying to help.

Yeah, not just Macross but Dougram as well. Which incidentally was used by Revell under the Robotech Defenders banner
But no, these toys came out in 1994 so none of them are like the Macross stuff. I tried checking the cartoon that these toys are based off of and found out the cartoon uses the same helmet for everyone and it looks nothing like the ones with the toys However, I finally looked at the back of one of my boxes (I had been looking at the scans previously) and I could make out what helmet Valten wears. So that question is answered, now to find out about the mythical (Because I've never seen them) camo versions Odd tidbit, It was due to the Exo Squad toyline around the same time, that Fasa (The Battletech company) took Playmates to court for supposedly stealing some of their designs for the Exo Squad toyline! Fasa lost, then Harmony Gold (Who held the Robotech rights) Jumped in to sue Fasa over the macross/robotech stuff. |

I seem to remember the camo version but I didn't collect the toys even though I was and still am a Battletech fan
a good place to ask would be here Lords of the Battlefield News and here Catalyst Game Lab's Official Classic Battletech Website

That's a good collection and I think that is the most BT toys I ever seen in one place.

I've been building up my collection for a little while now and I'm just starting to get some of the camo ones. I've got a whole set of the regular versions. Here's a few questions for ya: Are all the accessories (IE: Helmets, Guns and Missiles) in the camo sets the same color as the regular figures? I know the figures are different colors (At least what I've seen in small ebay pictures) Is the seat for the camo Mauler the same color as the regular version? Do you have any spare parts for the camo versions? |
