Hasbro unveils 'Star Wars' Black Series action figures
Quote:
Hasbro has had success with the scale before with the 6-inch Marvel Legends figures based on Marvel Comics heroes and villains. In terms of Star Wars, though, the Black Series will act as a transitional point between the 3¾-inch toys — "which is rooted in the childhood memories of generations of now-grown kids," DePriest says — and the 12-inch Sideshow Collectibles figures for adult collectors.

That looks pretty cool to me.
I love 3-3/4", but 6" could make for a nice display, becuase I don't have room for 12". I also don't mind having less to choose from. Luke X-Wing and R2 may both be mine.....if these look good in person? |

It's hard to tell, but I think you're right, they may have swivel knees. It looks like they have hinged joints going by the cut, but they could also be early Hasbro Marvel Legends style swivels. The juries out on the head sculpt, but overall it looks pretty cool. I want Darth Maul the most.

Sold!!! As long as they are SA or reasonably SA I'm there! Honestly I don't even care if they are $20. They will produce less so it will be all gravy! I'm no longer paying more than $20 for the Matty stuff since I swore off Mattel so, this will be a nice replacement!

I can already feel the frustration that collectors will have while waiting for their favorite character to be made. This line is basically starting from scratch. Imangine a 6" Joe line, and not having Destro or Cobra Viper not come out until wave 4. That could be months of waiting.
So what wave will Darth Nihilus be in?

I'll really have to limit what i buy from this line. Assuming all these get made, will probably buy:
Luke - farmboy Luke - Pilot Luke - Bespin Luke - Jedi Han - ANH Han - Bespin Leia - ANH Leia - Cloud city Chewy R2 3PO Vader - ESB Boba Fett - ROTJ Stormtrooper Try my darndest to stay away from background characters. Unless the Gamorrean is anything like TVC release. |

I think I will not be amiss in saying that we will never, ever see Darth Nihilus in this particular line.
Not to be a party pooper, but the only EU we will likely ever see in this line is "recent/current tie-in" EU, and even if Hasbro gets a renewal of the Star Wars license that lasts another 20 years, and this line proves to be successful and continues for that long, they'll know that with each passing year, folks that remember old-school EU stuff like Knights of the Old Republic, or Dark Forces, or Shadows of the Empire, or even the Thrawn Trilogy will become less and less significant portions of the buying population. Especially if the dreaded "R" word happens with the EU when the new movies roll out. Though I could -maybe- see Hasbro (if the line really takes off) doing some sort of EU wave or set that kinda has a "greatest hits" of the EU going on. But that'd basically be Grand Admiral Thrawn, Mara Jade, Darth Revan, and maybe one or two or three more of the vast multitude of reasonably popular/recognized EU characters. Mine! Mine! They'll all be mine!!!!! I might even be able to get away with some of these going in the living room or game room... very excited for this take on Star Wars... As far as the knee goes- I'm thinking pilot Luke has a hinge knee like some of the baggy-pants joe figures. would be cool to see a full ball joint, but it won't bother me if it's a single or double hinge either- it's a beautiful looking figure either way
