I'd be interested in any playsets that were even marginally better than those god awful Enterprise ones.

I'm not sure Hasbro's even making a 3 3/4" line for this. Their license does cover it, but it's sounding like after the debacle that was the Playmates attempt, Hasbro's hedging their bets and giving Trek 2 the "Battleship" treatment (Just KRE-O).
Probably not a bad move when you can still find the first movie figures rotting on shelves some places.

They Playmate toy line is still in stock at my local Toys R Us. We never even had a chance to buy the second wave so we could finish the bridge playset. I do not think there will be a new figure line because of how horrible the first movie toy line performed.

What I'll never understand is WHY, WHY did they make the Abrams movie figures smaller than Joes and Star Wars? Why????
Same with Terminator figures being a bit too big... why??? Would it not be in their best interests to make them the somewhat "universal" size of Joes and SW? (or Marvel) |

I used to collect Trek stuff and if you can believe it, the stuff has zero resale value.

It was so widely bought by so many because of its low price and ready availability, there is just too much on the market for it to garner any real value or interest. Quote:
I would LOVE to see a Star Trek figure line from Hasbro (especially if they did a "Legacy" line with figure from the prior films and shows), but I also agree that after the LAST film's toyline...it doesn't feel like there is a huge desire for a round 2 (even with a different company at the helm). We'll just have to wait and see, they could be saving Trek 2's line until Toy Fair to give it a big showy press release like Retaliation got last year. Either way, I don't see it being nearly as elaborate as what Playmates did (probably won't even have vehicles and any playsets will be small, $25 affairs)

I sent a nice email to Playmates regarding the cancelled wave 2. They sent me a nice, apologetic email and a free Bridge and Transporter playset in the mail. I bought a lot of the figures to finish the bridge, make customs etc. Only finished a few like McCoy and Chekov in their regular uniforms, Kirk in black shirt, Spock in academy uniform. A really well done 3.75" line like SW could do well, but would never make it at retail. It would have to be online only.

the POTF line is the one that for starwars that aint woth jack. thats cause its like 90s comics eveyone went nuts and bought the stuff so everyone has it and has taken care of it! but I would say starwars stuff thats newer has good value but the problem is theres lots of it. that playmates bridge transporter makes a Justice League teleporter for DC infinte figs!
