Looks like I'll be buying as many of these as I did the Spider-man line.
It's sad because I really enjoyed the First Avenger and IM2 figure line a lot and bought tons of figures. But I skipped Spidey (apart from the super articulated one and a couple of glow-in-the-dark Lizards from TRU. Don't they go to the toy store? Haven't they seen the Batman figures just sitting there?

If the Dark Knight RIses Batman figures had elbow articulation, they wouldn't be half bad. I can deal with swivel shoulders and hips. They had cloth capes and decent sculpts. But the Bane figure, which was limited to begin with, had the worst sculpt.
When are toy companies going to mix in some other figures besides multiple suits from the main hero. Spidey, Dark Knight Rises, and the IM3 line could benefit from mixing other characters - Catwoman, Selina Kyle, Alfred, Gordon, Blake, Gwen Stacy, Capt Stacy, Pepper Potts, Tony Stark. Limited them to one per case and I think they might sell. If not to kids then at least to adult collectors. Hell, why not throw in characters from the universe that isn't from the movie. Spidey did it and they didn't hang around long. I could have worked for DKR to get a Two-Face, Joker, or Penguin. |

The Legends are what I want. Heroic Age, Iron Patriot and classic horned mask Iron Man.
Iron Patriot and horned mask are easy though, just repaints with 1 new part. |

You really expect Hasbro to learn from their mistakes? Not going to happen.

The Assemblers figures remind me of the Toy Biz Iron Man toys with the removeable armor pieces.
The difference is that those Toy Biz figures from (Sweet Christmas...) 18 YEARS AGO had elbow and knee swivels. AND vac-metal on the armor pieces. AND an action feature. Those last two may not be big sellers for collectors but that's something at least the kids liked at the time. I'm too much of an Iron Fan to pass on the line entirely, but it'll probably just be the movie armor figure and nothing else. I have the IM2 Mandarin, so I am not really champing at the bit for a crumy Mandy just because he is in the right scale. The Legends have me much more intrigued, but at their current selling price it'll be hard to take too big a bite on those as well. But we shall see.

You know, the operative term is "ACTION-Figure"
These are terrible. For all it's flaws I loved the IM2 line, great balance of comic and movie looks and tons of good figures (I grant you that there were too many IM's in the line). While I am saving money due to Hasbro's incompentence, My heart is saddened by the fact I won't even be able to find a decent IM3 Iron Man or Iron Patriot because they aren't being made. |

I know no one wants to here this but I am father and i say yes less articualtion is better for children. My kids play with some of my figs form various lines and they get fustrated with the ones that have lots of articualtion those with 5 pt are just perfect for them. If that is what hasbro is going for then well I get it. But I would like to say a few things!
first if your gonna do 5 pt then please make those joints truly work!! like the bane fig he cant sit down at all so what the point of those joints? second 5pt = 5 dollars. plain and simple 3rd if your gonna cheap out on articualtion can you at least make different figs of various characters?

However, for collectors, this is the only versions of the new IM armor and Iron Patriot were getting. So to have limited POA is a bit frustrating. It does look like these will be around the 6-7 dollar price point so that's a bonus. Hopefully they aren't 5 POA and at least have either elbow or knee joints similar to either the Dark Knight Rises Batman or 3.75" DC figures. I agree too on the need for variety. I'm not such an articulation snob that I wouldn't get the figures if they have a good sculpt (a highlight of the SW Bespin set). It's the selection that really frustrates me. We saw IM2, Thor, Cap, Dark Knight (Not Hasbro I know) and Spidey movie figures peg warm due to the lack of variety. Now we're looking at the same thing. Give us secondary or background characters. Throw in Mandarin in the first wave. Use later waves to delve into comic characters. |
