New Images of Takara Tomy Super GT Optimus Prime and Star Saver with Race Queens
These Race Queens look like they have about 30 points of articulation. A little shorter then Joes, but they look pretty cool. And its not like Takara doesnt share molds with Hasbro. |

You only need five points of articulation to drive a Joe tank so....

What you need to remember is that this is one of Takara's signature lines. It's a reissue of sorts of the Alternity line that Takara released to sort of downsize the Binaltech figures while also blending the look of the movie style with a more G1 base.
This line only used four molds. and has now released... 20[?] or so figures, most of which are the same character with a different color paint. On top of that, the price stayed around $60-$85 to get them here in US. Yes, it was a cool concept but very much poorly executed. As for the Race Queen figures, they're pretty much just Microman figures. You can get them pretty much anywhere... As for why Hasbro doesn't make them, well, they'd tell you and all those extra PoA would drive up the cost to prices where stores wouldn't carry them because you wouldn't buy them. Or at least you'd wait to buy them "when they go on sale..." like say, Skystrikers and anything else over twenty bucks. Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 11-22-2012 at 01:58 PM.. |

If memory serves, it's actually the choking hazard thing. Microman figures are pretty delicate, and usually come with interchangable hands and other small bits that apparently American kids will swallow. On top of that, girls don't sell.

Because those figures are aimed at Japanese collectors, while Hasbro makes toys for children that adult collectors happen to buy.
Would those figures look great in and around any number of 1:18 scale cars, trucks and other items? You bet, but even I am not about to pay a buck 15 just to get a Transformers accessory. |
