DreadBall The Futuristic Sports Game
The Dreadbowl site is going live in about 17 hours - thoroughly looking forward to this! I've been looking for a 'Games Workshop that isn't Games Workshop' for absolutely agggees... - and I think I've found it with Mantic games. This looks absolutely epic...

I have a game VERY similar to this from about 10 years ago called "Battleball". Cool figures, easy gameplay... lots of fun!
Thankfully this also seems to be in the affordable range, since GW is clearly NOT really affordable for the average player. I was a Blood Bowl fanatic and had a Skaven team and a Human Team in my day. I WILL be checking this out though! Thanks!

There's a Kickstarter - and it's ludicrously cheap!
DreadBall - The Futuristic Sports Game by Mantic Games — Kickstarter I just got everything for $140...

Blot buddy, are you a plant for Mantic? ;)
Uh oh, the worst words ever for miniature wargamers with low paint skills... "supplied unpainted".

I wanna be... Only discovered them about 3 weeks ago, and I've already spaffed a ton of cash on 'stuff's'.
I used to work for Games Workshop waaaaaaaaaay back in the day, before the wife made me grow up and get a real job... Don't miss the heartbreak that was GW, but I sure do miss the discount on toys...

Looks really cool... Would love to be able to invest the 4000 to get all the perks I imagine they've got the legal end covered before moving this far along- but it sure seems like a bloodbowl rip-off (in the legal sense) and GamesWorkshop is a pitbull about protecting their concepts, so I'm surprised all this has come this far.

The CEO is Ronnie Renton, and the head designers are Alessio Cavatore and Jake Thornton - they were at the heart of GW back in the 'Good Ol' Days'. It's one of the things that caught my eye about them - I worked for Ronnie waaaay back in 1997... I think they know enough about GW to sidestep any legal traps. Very careful with wording I think!
I'm hoping for a lottery win tonight, so I can get that $5000 bid... I've always wanted a figure sculpted of myself, and the thought of getting my face on the front of a box of toys... hmmm...

Maybe it's one of those amicable sort of things where GW is supporting their former people in their endeavor. I'm thinking about that Striker package...
So the goal was $20,000 and they got to $39,000 in one day? The game is just going to get better and better with each target |
