i know, i know, it's all dreaming and wishing, but there is an awful lot of vehicles and things out there for us to want for our Joe collections.
One, why doesn't Hasbro treat Joe fans like their Star Wars fans? once a year or so, they get a humongus boxed toy/vehicle and it is a great item. Joe fans are lucky we got the Skystriker- and should feel humbled for it. Not saying we should get a Flagg each year. but throw us a fricken bone, ya know? if only a small company would offer a minimal number of items each year until they gain a fanbase/solid reputtion... in other words, don't go Molten Monkey and fade out. offer 1-2 vehicles a quarter. that's 4-8 a year. (4 a year to start would be great.) Like offer this S-67 in the winter: followed in the spring with a LCAC (that can hold a Mobat). if i could do this myself, i would set standards. like these: 1. may not be true Joe-scale, but close. for example, if i offered vehicles that carry troops, whether it be blackhawk, Super Stallion, Huey or Osprey, it should be able to hold 5-6 in the cabin, plus the flight crew. 2. No gimmicks. well, being able to tilt the Osprey's rotors, adjusting the fans on the LCAC, minor things are a gimme. but i would avoid lights, sounds, and other things like that. 3. ACCESSORIES. instead of gimmicks, accessories. if i offered a multi-purpose vehicle, include things so you could do just that. F-18 with extras so it could dog-fight or pound the sand with bombs. mix and match. 4. Action figures optional until the vehicles and sales are established. you got/can get joe pilots that you prefer. maybe after a good 1-2 years in business, offer pilots/crew figures once, maybe twice a year. like an Osprey 3-pack (pilot, co-pilot, and crew chief) or something. 5. Price points. should set a ceiling price for these things and then justify where the price comes from. if i offered a huge, honking Osprey for $75, it better be as cool as the AB-115 Shark (or better) for that price. there's a lot more into doing this than i could ever imagine. but, if limiting production runs to say, less than X number until demand builds, and other things could help it grow, it would be nice to see. eh, daydreaming again. ugh.

Because G.I. Joe doesn't have nearly the buying base Star Wars does. Hell, they just recently dropped a SW VTC wave to online-only, so perhaps SW ain't doing so hot at the moment.
Try being a true 1:18 military collector, there isn't anything new for us. You Joescale collectors (and yes, there is a difference) are doing pretty good, especially with True Heroes/Chap Mei and PTE. All the stuff you listed would be in Joescale. |

Hasbro should just move to buy out BluBox/Elite force.
Joe needs Abrams style tanks that size..with ready made molds. Modern Copters, and varying vehicles they could redeco for Cobra. Mix the modern vehicles with classic re-issues and they'd be all set. Once a year --tops, they should issue a Skystriker, or Tomahawk, Rattler style vehicle. I fear anything bigger will not get made ever again unless there is a super popular cartoon or movie out in the near future.

So it'd be a colossal waste of cash for Hasbro to buy out BBI, since they'd have to retool almost everything anyway. |

A: Bbi doesn't do 1:18 military items as their only product line. Think of them as a Hong Kong Hasbro.
B: Bbi and Unimax have both released Abrams variants, why does Hasbro need to do one? It certainly won't be cheaper/better. Especially when you factor in what these things used to cost when they were available at Target and Tors R Us. C: Most of What Jmacq said. D: I'd trust my Bbi OH-58D to come out of a drop test better than any Hasbro item, but your mileage may vary. Last edited by Konigstiger; 08-20-2012 at 12:51 PM.. |

i have been to 1:18 scale boards and yeah, that area of collecting is stagnant.
(after i bought my 1:18 Huey, i wanted more in that scale, but there ain't a lot out there, sadly.) i don't mind Hasbro's attitude toward the Joe line as being a kid's thing. but with the awesome things they released in the past, i feel they have dumbed-down the newest things a bit. (modernized HISS aside.) I really wanted that Ghost Hawk II, but jeez... so i'll just hope some guys that are too stupid to know it can't be done come along and make a handful of great vehicles for us.

I think your best option is the occasional "ah, that's different" piece from the PTE line.
