They look about the same as recent Mattel DC figures

Yeah but those were 1975 so we can be a bit more forgiving with them.
Hell even for toys that old there are aspects of them that outshine anything modern (the aforementioned Parachute or the tent in the first post for example). |

good ol' adventure people... I remember as a kid ordering a army men set... or something... from JCPenny or Sears and they were out of stock so they sent me a Fisher Price Adventure People Safari set... I was really really upset about it at first... must have been seven or eight... but then it eventually because one of my favorite things to play with. the Gorilla was awesome...
edit... actually I must have been 5.... this was before Star Wars came out and took over my life! Last edited by USAgent; 06-12-2012 at 03:17 PM.. |

...and i can't tell you how many time the Air-Sea rescue copter was taken down by plastic sharks... I had been playing out scenes from Jaws 2 long before that movie was even an idea...

I had that Safari set too. Loved the jeep.
For their time, Adventure People was top notch.

Yeah, those were great figs. I had a bunch of the sets Troy listed, including a later one that was a shark hunting boat. If only I'd seen Jaws then. I loved that rescue copter, and the one set I never got was the rescue truck that had 2 figures(a nurse and a firefighter/paramedic), opened up to carry a patient, and had a snorkel on top.

I had a few Adventure People sets and managed to hold onto many of them. I had the above safari set, I had a blue speedboat that came with a yellow jet-raft. A sub that could be carried by a helicopter that had a squid. I had a space shuttle too that included a mini ship and I had like a black space ship that had a black astronaught that was green w/ blue hair.

I wish Hasbro would do something line this line today. Imagine a subset of GI Joe called "Real American Heroes." Police, firemen, paramedics, astronauts, park rangers. Joe construction. Vehicles. Accessories.
This would be a consistent good seller. You don't need media tie-ins to sell a line like this. Every kid wants to be a fireman or cop at one point. Lego and Playmobil have consistently had firemen and police sets available for decades. They're evergreen ideas. |
