I TAKE PRIDE IN MY G I JOE, COMICS, AND VIDEO GAMES. those are amoung some of my most entertaining past times, besides all my other hobbies and professions.i appreciate star wars movies, but i think the dialogue in those pre-quels is extremely myopic, weak and for children. but i'm not a trekky or star wars geek. the other night i was with a date and we went to the mall. we went to kaybe and they just pulled out the star war cases. now i know when i'm collecting joes, hunting there is always people freakin out looking for gold coins, anyways they had no joes and i was checking out the star wars stuff. that 30th anniversary stuff is pretty awesome. i picked up gold coin bobba fetts, vaders, concept art figs, and some new pre grievous fig. i checked the comics out to, man they have some excellent stories and awesome art. how many of you joe collectors are into star wars. i really don't want to get into star wars, cuz they make way too much stuff to keep up with.....what are your thoughts on star wars. and the gold cards and gold coins and articulated figs are very dope. it would be nice to see some more gold carded stuff like the gold destro.

I have a decent STAR WARS collection, but now that the films are done, I'm not buying any more of the new figures. I already have all the characters I could ever really want, and multiple versions of most of them. I still look at the new figures, though, but I don't care for the coins.
As far as the prequels, the dialogue is actually more mature and proper, but it's poorly written and doesn't flow well at all. Lucas had help from film school pal Willard Huyck and his wife, Gloria Katz, on the original, and Lawrence Kasdan was responsible for the second two films. The prequel trilogy needed a good screenwriter to bring the characters to life, and that didn't happen. The help Lucas did get on Attack Of The Clones was from a contributor to Lucas' Adventures of Young Indiana Jones television series, Jonathan Hales, a writer without much experience. It didn't help at all, as that was easily the weakest of the three films. |

The coins are a nice throw back but im really looking for all the stuff that i missed in the saga legends. and the basic figs from the force unleashed game are something to look forward to.

Star Wars is my girlfriend's realm. I have my vintage collection and a few newer figures here and there.
I just picked up the torture Han Solo for the torture device (Interrogator needs equipment ) I noticed something funny about the Han figure though. It has all the same articulation as the 25th joes, except for the hips, it has the type of articulation the vintage Star Wars figures do  Makes Han's hips look massively small |

love em both, been a fan of since I was a kid. Joe is my favorite but have more Star Wars stuff (see market saturation). absolutely love the new stuff since they're now hitting EU.really excited about the franchises future with Clone Wars and Force Unleashed coming out. can never have to many clones or imperials.

I was big into both as a child. I got back into SW with Shadows of the Empire. When Joes came back, and when I discovered ebay, SW pretty much just faded out for me. Like YOJOE818 said, too much stuff to keep up with.

Star Wars always has been and always will be my favorite toy line hands down. I only collect the OT characters, but I buy them all (I have every OT figure that's been made since the POTF2 line started in June of '95) but I don't care for the prequels one bit (the prequel movies are pretty horrendous). Anyways, the SW figures get better every year and they really hit their stride in the last 2 years. Both Star Wars an GI Joe were always my favorite toys as a little kid in the early 80's and the new lines really give me a great feeling of nostalgic bliss.
BTW, I thought about collecting the new He-Man figures a few years ago, but then the line died out before they got every character made. I was a huge Transformers fan as a kid, too but the new ones just don't interest me at all. I think the only old toy line that would be a must-buy for me if they came back would be M.A.S.K. Those along with Star Wars, GI Joe and He-Man were my favorites as a kid. |

I buy Star Wars 30th figures selectively and occasionally, the Saga Collection figures, compared to GI Joe where my collection is much bigger. I dunno for sure but I think there's too many Star Wars figures around, some good and some not so good. So far I've got a few Sith and Mcquarrie figures.
I got my first Star Wars figures (late 70s and early 80s) when I was at a very young age and so my collection never really blossomed at that time. So I find more connection with GI Joe/Transformers, as I was a few years older and had a better grasp of their concepts. BTW, if you noticed, Star Wars figures are on average a dollar more expensive than GI Joe. My hunch on this is that Hasbro has a multi-million dollar license deal ($200M-$220M through 2018) with Lucas to produce the figures. As a result, they not only have to charge more but also produce a lot more to earn back their investment. |
