[Shin Densetsu]

Post all Transformers Masterpiece discussion here. As stated in a recently translated interview from 2011, the TF Masterpiece line is headed in a new direction lead by Hasui Shogo, AKA Mr. Starscream. He designed many of the Starscream figures from the past few years and his 1st MP design was MP10 Masterpiece Convoy V2. He aims for more playability, styling close to the G1 cartoon(and various influences from the G1 Marvel comics, recent cartoons, et al), and some smaller MP toys at a cheaper pricepoint..like MP Sideswipe. He TRIED to get a MP Huffer made JUST BECAUSE the guy towed Prime's trailer once in the cartoon! Unfortunately MP Huffer was cut out of MP10 due to cost. Nonetheless..wow talk about dedication.

Note that unlike MP3, there was no design revision by Kawamori Shoji this time around. While MP11 resembles how the original MP3 prototype looked before Kawamori's revision, it does in fact, have a substantial amount of new parts aside from the coronation gear.

ive got the first mp prime and megatron. i already sold my tru hotrod and grimlock. i dont feel like shelling out $250 for mp10. im not in a good place mp wise.

I think he will be smaller actually. They are going for more cartoon scaling in robot mode, and Rodimus was roughly Optimus' height in the cartoon, whereas Sideswipe was shorter.

hmm. i think rodimus prime was close to optimus prime in height, but hot rod was shorter. to clarify, i'd like sideswipe to be close to MP-09 hot rod size.

I'm looking forward to MP-12 being six maybe seven inches tall. I just hope the price reflects a figure of that size. I'm also looking forward to the Red Alert repaint that'll happen. I would hope that his success will launch an effort to release more G1 characters in a larger, more detailed scale and a dedicated line. Classics just doesn't cut it for me. It's starting to fall into Hasbro's trend of recycling molds from old lines and too conveniently dropped every time Michael Bay makes a movie.

Hot Rod alone wouldn't be any bigger than an eight inch figure... but since MP-09 was a four mode changer he obviously had to be taller to reflect Rodimus' height. Either way, I'm happy with him being the height he is. Then again, I also like standing Rodimus up next to MP-01. It seems more appropriate to me that Rodimus be that much smaller than Prime as a physical reflection to his own self doubt of living up to Optimus' legacy.

And man, I really hope that if we see MP-Galvatron he's a larger figure. I know, I know, but I'm a diehard fan of MP-01 and MP-05's height. It's a Masterpiece line and that, to me, says large, highly detailed figuresthat can fill a display in their own right. There are a lot of things that I like about MP-10 but his height isn't one of them.

waiting for that awesome 3p soundwave 3p blaster, 3p shockwave, and the official sideswipe release.

the better not shrink sideswipe too much. he needs to be close to starscream height, maybe a head shorter.
