Can some of our UK members explain why there are so many diecast, military, hobby, collectibles, and modelling magazine available from the UK. They are hard to miss because they're usually in the large format. Publishing and magazines are dying over here. Can you explain?

I think it maybe because most of the biggest companies (and probably when they started, were the ONLY companies) producing these type of toys and collectables were all originally British firms.
Corgi and Dinky were and probably still are the worlds biggest die-cast vehicle makers, even if production has shifted to the far east. Airfix were and probably still are, the worlds biggest model company. While the hobbies aren't as big sellers as they once were, very few children are probably interested anymore and switch to consoles, the market is still big. You're right though, over here the newspaper shops have racks of different magazines catering for them.
