As I research more into Nerf blasters I see that this company has some nifty mod kits whereby you simply replace the stock parts with their enhanced parts to improve performance. They even sell modded complete blasters. From the price of the Alpha Trooper they have it's really not much more expensive than buying your own from Target and buying their kit. Plus you get a metal trigger to boot.
Check it out. I think I may get 1 or 2. Orange Mod Works |

Just a heads up, I noticed my local TJ Maxx had a bunch of Nerf blaster for sale.
Orange colored "Gear Up" Raider $19.99 Regular Raider (3 of them) $19.99 Stampede (I think) $35(?) I know it was 30-something Deploy (2 of them) $15(?) didn't pay much attention to it Jolt $4.99 (I saw one at K-mart for $4.50 though I ended up getting the orange Raider as I was planning on getting one and the orange stock looks cool with the Alpha Trooper as opposed to the standard blue Raider stock. |

i am terrible at modding my NERF guns.
i'd like to up the power, just not comfortable with opening them up. i have tried modding 2 guns, a Maverick and a Longshot. I modded the cylinder on the Maverick so it comes out farther. the cocking slide hasn't worked since. on the Longshot, i took the pistol grip/trigger off the pistol/barrel extension. that came out ok. and since the new line has come out, haven't seen any guns i want. man, i want more NERF. been having to look at other companies for guns these days.

I picked up my 2nd Raider at one particular Marshall's for $16. It had a red clearance tag on it.
BTW, I noticed TRU.com has the Elite Retaliator in stock, but I'm going to pass on it. I prefer guns with slam fire. NERF N Strike Elite Retaliator Blaster - Hasbro - Toys "R" Us I think I want to tack down a 2nd Alpha Trooper to mod it. I really like the cocking mechanism much better than the Raider. I just wish the Alpha Trooper came with a stock. I've been using my Raider stock on my Alpha Trooper. Still, for $19.99 I think it's an excellent value. |

The Stampede is this one. Fully automatic. This sucker is big. Of course I plan to ditch the shield and bottom bi-pod. They're optional add on accessories. I think they took some design cues from the Aliens pulse rifle. |

i passed on the Stampede when i read it didn't have a manual operation, meaning you had to have batteries.
(it's one reason i still love my Vulcan, i don't have to go broke on batteries.) but i like how it looks. gotta get the Alpha Trooper, if only for the smaller, 18 shot drum to use with other guns. like take the recon apart to where it looks like a pistol, slap in the 18 shot drum and go room to room with it. watched Youtube reviews of the Stampede and Alpha Trooper- and their accessories are a huge reason to get them. the 18 shot drum and magazines are great. and that shield i would love to mount on a Recon.

Yup, gotta love the Alpha Trooper. It's my favorite right now. All the Alpha Trooper needs is a stock which you can get from other blasters. I like the pump action slam fire of the AT. I prefer the pump of the AT much better than the Raider. I find the Raider pistol grip handle to pump rather awkward.
Also, I think the side loading of the Raider is not a good idea at all. Throws the balance way off if you use a high capacity clip or drum. I plan to get a 2nd AT sometime in the near future before everything moves to the new Elite line. I hope they come out with an Elite version of the AT in a similar way that they did with the Recon and Raider |

Finally mounted my Nerf guns and a few others on my walls.
I have a main Nerf display: and a collection of shotguns (and a BB gun): i call this room "The Armory"- there's a Vulcan on a cabinet next to the shotguns. ready for the Zombie Apocalypse!!

I have a project question, so any ideas or suggestions would be nice.
i want to make holsters for my Mavericks, and a back holster for my shotguns and was thinking of using corkboard like this as a flexible mold around: my idea was to fold over just enough to be snug around the gun, then seal the edges, and reinforce with Duct Tape, which i plan to paint a flat black. i am still researching how to make a back strap and attaching the holsters to my hips. thanks for any help you have to offer.
